Damn, big things happening at MTSU and WKU. Wish SHSU was bringing in AND spending cash like that. Congrats guys, should be good for the whole conference.

By the way, it's been mentioned that SHSU stated that they would be updating/expanding their football stadium. Any updates on that?

This is years in the making for MT. I imagine y’all will be doing a bunch of improvements with the move to FBS.

Just rumors. As you’ll come to learn with SHSU, we fans and alumni are kept in the dark in terms of facility updates. Which really pisses me off, and is a reason I think donations and interest continues to go down. But that’s another story.

A press box/luxury suite renovation has been in the works for the better part of a decade now and will be happening in the near future (it was going to happen regardless of a move). That much is certain, and AD Bobby Williams has confirmed it. I’ve heard the university is deciding between two concepts, at least according to people I’d say qualify as “in the know”. I can’t imagine Bowers Stadium will expanded greatly though. No need for added seating. They can just include the berm area into the capacity if FBS requirements still exist.

Y’all would just need to add 1k permanent seats to get to a minimum of 15k. I’d guess the press box, club seating and removing the track will be part of the renovation. One reason for a larger stadium is to help with P5 scheduling.

I’m really not sure they’d get to the point immediately where it would be realistic for Sam to host a P5 team in Huntsville. Not enough fans would show up. Maybe at NRG Stadium in Houston? SHSU usually draws a good 20k+ in Houston at the BOTPW which is essentially a home game against SFA. If they were to get 2 for 1 with a Big 12 or PAC 12 team it would need to be played at NRG IMO. I hope Sam gets to 15k at Bowers with a nice suite section when they remodel. Something like ACU or Tarleton State has.

Coach Keeler tells the Bearkat Sports Network that an updated pressbox/suite section is in fact in the works and, the more notable news, an indoor practice facility will be built behind the scoreboard in the N endzone. Exciting news for the Bearkat football program. Hopefully this helps some come around to support the CUSA move.

Good to hear, seems pretty standard for teams moving up. The IPF is a huge deal. We’re still working on getting ours built.
