The lawsuit says that the state can't prosecute these people for fraud... which has nothing whatsoever to do with the fact that they cast votes when they should not have been allowed to do so. Sort of like how a traffic cam in some jurisdictions can't be used to prosecute you for speeding... but you were still speeding/breaking the law.

This is precisely what Repblicans have been saying all along. PLENTY of fraud happens, to which democrats say 'why haven't more people been arrested??' and the answer is because of all the challenges to detect it and then convict someone of it... and NOT because 'unlawful votes' haven't taken place.

Note that these decisions are judicial rulings regarding procedural matters, and not trials on the merits.

I'll go back to the analogy I've used before. Let's say there are two roads between point A and point B, call them route 1 and route 2. Both are 15 miles long and have 60 mph speed limits. Law enforcement makes it well known that they will be policing route 1 very closely for speeding, but will not be policing route 2. Which route will have more speeding tickets? Which route will have more speeders?

Detection statistics are meaningless unless there are adequate means of detection.
