Which Rick will they hire? Pitino or Stansbury? Maybe they hire another CUSA coach and pull Stan back to Mississippi.

He's 63, not too old for another stop but no spring chicken either.

I think he'd be good on TV if he had any interest in sticking around the game while stepping back from coaching.

Chris Beard, Dusty May and Grant McCasland are some of the top names I've seen.

Really don't give a damn what happens to Ole Miss. Nevertheless, after getting over the initial shock of losing Kermit to the Rebels; I hoped he would do well there. Glad he made a lot of money and don't really blame him for taking the Big Bucks when he left MT. Bet he comes home to the Boro.

FAU and NT are the ones that need to be concerned the most about the firing. Their coaches are likely to be distracted as they apply/interview for the position.

I really hope any of these guys take a long hard look at what Kennedy did there and what the expectations obviously are. I’m not saying those guys can’t win there, but it may not be an ideal situation down the road.

Stanz fired or Stanz retires ?

Stans should've been fired. He's underperformed his entire time at WKU. You guys have had size and talent for years, and no NCAA appearances to show for it. He's a Mike Davis wannabe - win games in the regular season, sometimes, but choke very year in the post season.

What if Stanz makes a run in the tourney ? They have the talent to do so.

You can not like it all you want but he is still the coach. Your administration is obviously fine with it. What makes you think they won't keep him on for 10 seasons? He is your version of Stockstill. They could make the case that he had heath problems this season so it shouldn't count against him. He can recruit but he is terrible at game planning and in game coaching. The opposite of what Kermit Davis was.

I will be very surprised if Stansbury is back at WKU next year. I am not saying it is impossible, but most of what I am seeing is leaning towards him being replaced.

He got an extension, but his buyout was also reworked to $500k regardless of time left on contract. This was a make or break year for him, and we have floundered worse than anyone could have expected. Yes, he had health issues. We were still losing games before and after his absence. It is time to move on for us.

I agree. WKU is too good of a basketball school to accept mediocrity like that.

He's obviously a good recruiter, and was able to get big time players at Ms St under nefarious circumstances, but he is not a good in game coach and chokes in the post season.

He wont be fired because he has a lot of the rich donors on his side for support because he slaps their back and talks the talk to them. Id guess more Rick here is your 500k and we will annouce retirement.
