Imagine being proud of a coach’s salary because he went to your school, yet coached for two different conference mates. LMAO!

VERY proud for him and his family. He deserves every penny of it.

Hooten went to the NIT twice in 13 years and has no NCAA appearances. Some “winner”.

Ahhh, I see the mod finally let the baby out of timeout.

I'm sure nmsu took his NIT appearances into account when they decided to pay Hooten more than any coach since Marvin Menzies.

But you're right, the keyboard gangster from Mommy's basement in Seattle must know more about winning than they do.

Jans made much more than what Hooten is making. As usual, you are wrong.

Once again Pogostick Poser is wrong about somebody/everybody being wrong.

Just give it up already, and stop making a schmuck of yourself. Nobody likes THAT guy.

"Hooten signed a five-year contract with salary ranging from $425,000 next season, increasing to $450,000 the next two seasons and $475,000 for the final two seasons.

Hooten is the first Aggies basketball coach to receive a base salary over $400,000 since the end of Marvin Menzies’ tenure. Heiar’s base salary was $300,000."

Hooten has a larger base salary than what Jans' and Heiar's contracts spelled out. Hooten is getting a more guaranteed base salary from NMSU. However, Jans' contract had higher paying incentives that pushed his annual salary to well over $600K. The incentives listed below are where Jans made a larger salary than Hooten...

Incentives are not pay. They are potential (unguaranteed) pay. I'm sure Hooten is being incentivised as well.

That tweet above is Hooten's incentives. The incentive amounts were greater for Jans' which made up the difference for his lower base salary. Jans had a higher "potential" annual salary than Hooten, much of it was paid by the boosters. Nevertheless, Jans was making over $600K annually at the time in which he took the Mississippi State job. I'm sure if Hooten is successful, he will be making more than Jans within a few years, as he renegotiates his contract for higher paying incentives and base pay.

Jans had a guaranteed annual retention bonus plus his base salary plus incentives. He made more than what Hooten will make this year. Hooten does have a higher base than Jans and others. But Hooten is not making "more than any coach since Marvin Menzies". You are wrong.

EVANSVILLE, INDIANA (MSA pop. 360,000) not Illinois as stated earlier in thread--not sure if they (EatEmUp11) were serious or not-- but just for general info correction.
