With only a very few exceptions - - Alex Berenson, Glenn Greenwald, Bari Weiss, Andy Ngo, Bill Melugin come to mind - - I have little trust in anything that I read or hear from media sources. Reporters today seem to be mostly invested in storytelling, not truth telling.

Another journalist exception to me was Charles Krauthammer. He called things pretty much down the middle his entire career - writing columns for the Washington Post (won a Pulitzer Prize in 1987), panelist for the PBS program Inside Washington from 1990 - 2013, then became a Fox News contributor and regular panelist on Bret Baier's Special Report.

He left Fox News in August 2017 due to advancing cancer and died in June 2018.

I love seeing an understanding from the right that pharma companies are putting their bottom line over the health and safety of people, that's wonderful we couldn't agree more and it's a massive moral hazard. It's wonderful to openly admit they are evil, but now what do you propose to do to address it?

It's not a political thing. It has nothing to do with conservatism. It's an individual choice. I don't take any meds, nor will I. That's how I address it.

Many years ago, the last time I went to a doctor for a checkup, he wrote me a script for a statin because he said my cholesterol was bad. I saw the test results and told him, those numbers are fine. He said, and I kid you not, well yes but we want your numbers to be perfect. That was the last time I went to a doctor. True story.

Krauthammer was a national treasure. It is stunning how far the Washington Post has fallen in quality.

Charles was a gem. Used to look forward to what he was writing about. Was the only person I read in the Compost.

1. Hepatitis C treatments

a) sofosbuvir with ledipasvir (Harvoni);
b) sofosbuvir (Sovaldi);
c) daclatasvir (Daklinza); and
d) ribavirin (Ibavyr).

Cure rates to 97% with each depending on genotype of the Hep C.

2. Statins for arterial plaque buildup

statins like simvastatin, Lipitor, mevacor, and Crestor -- are now routinely used to slow the progression of atherosclerosis.

3. Designer medications for genotype cancers (multiples of examples)

Herceptin for HER-2 breast cancer.
Gleevec for GIST stomach cancer.

About 25 others.

4. Oxepanoprolinamides --- new gen antibiotics against resistant bacteria.

There's no profit in curing a disease, there's profit in creating a drug that will manage it for decades. When your entire health care system is oriented around what is best for profit vs what is best for patient outcomes this is what you get.

Is it your assertion that none of the above cure anything? Seriously?

Well hell since you brought it up. Since when is a treatment a cure? Because BTF stated in his statement, he used the word cure. You do know the difference between treatment and cure? You did use the word treatment in your Post for one of the conditions.

The issue for the one mentioned as a treatment kills the viral pathogen. The treatment is the taking of the compounds. The result of that is a cure. Put your thinking cap on.

The one with plaque buildup is a treatment that reduces the venous and arterial plaque to zero when undertaken over time. Again, a cure.

The remainder are all true cures. As in eliminating the condition or pathogen.

Going back to the list, is it your all's assertion that the items are not cures? Seriously?

Exercise and eat right and you'll not need that crap.

And you don't "cure" cancer. You merely put it into remission. It always comes back and eventually the "cure" is worse than the cancer.

Maybe. Maybe not. Lot of genetic ties to cancer. But why let facts get in the way of a world class generalization. And irrelevant to your first comment of no modern cures, mind you.

Sometimes it comes back. Sometimes not. You are on a broad generalization tear lately.

Bad enough you think you're the world's greatest lawyer but now you're the world's greatest scientist too.

I’m not the person making the superlative and inaccurate remark that the only vector of cancer is diet and exercise, nor making the very incorrect statement that cancer always comes back. Let alone that nothing from modern medicine has been a curative. Not to mention the problems with lumping everyone in the medical and medical research community into one giant group and somewhat blindly attributing a stance to everyone there.

Doesn’t take a scientist to note those problems with your gross generalizations, let alone a worlds greatest scientist.

Maybe you might ponder whether you have an issue with rhetorical and inaccurate gross generalizations. Just like your comment above.

I'm merely speaking my opinion, not quoting any evidence. Until you prog filth get your way I am allowed to do that in this country, and I need no proof to do so.

Next?

I dont think I would ever expect such an enlightened move from you, compadre.

Lolz. And you keep beating the dumb*** thing that 'one who disagrees with Barteet is a prog' thingy. Kind of in line with the rest of your grossly ignorant ramblings and generalizations you have popped forth today.

Toodles and kisses, friendo. Today is to nice to waste with such a fine example as you.
