I doubt he plays, but London did say he was day to day and week to week.

Enough already with this. London is just purposely being evasive. Let this be Exhibit A when talking about how W&M athletics has no transparency. Just announce to everyone what the injury is and how long Yoder will be out ...and leave it at that. London is not fooling anyone by pretending that Yoder could be out only a few weeks.

Personally, I think "month to month" is more accurate and I would be shocked if Yoder plays anytime before the playoffs. At that point, I repeat what I said earlier in that Yoder should just redshirt and come back fully healthy next year. But London pretending that he might play sooner is just silly and makes him look crafty and disingenuous (and if it were true that he could return soon then London would have already announced the injury so that everyone would know it was not serious).

I don't think that's fair. There's strategy in not letting on who is playing week in week out. We've used Mathis's changing position to our advantage many a time. Let Elon prepare like Yoder is RB 1 and then hit them with trick plays with Imoh, Wilson and Mathis. London has a much better idea of Yoder's health than anyone here and can do with that information as he likes. We all hope Yoder is back ASAP, so let's hope the prognosis is better than it initially looked. I am happy to criticize the athletics department but I really think anything directed towards London and his staff is misdirected--they are the absolute highlight of our sinking ship, a delight to watch, and by all accounts he does it with one hand tied behind his back as he allegedly is missing 7 scholarships that other teams have.

Strategy applies if you are talking about a twisted ankle or a hamstring strain, etc.; something that may or may not keep the player out that week. There is no strategy involved in pretending Yoder will play this Saturday. The people at Elon aren't idiots; I'm sure that they are well aware that Yoder won't be playing and are gearing all their attention to stopping Imoh and Lucas.

Sure, London does a lot of things well and he has exceeded my initial expectations. He also has numerous examples in the past of doing some things poorly (clock management, timeout management, keeping players under control during the game, etc) and I think this ultra unnecessary secrecy is another one. We still don't know exactly what the injury is. The media has failed to do their reporting job.

(09-27-2023 03:23 PM)wanm65 Wrote:  privacy, privacy, privacy regulations

I really don't think it has anything to do with privacy. For example, if this was the QB at Alabama or Notre Dame and he went down injured then every sports news outlet would be all over this and nobody would be dissuaded from finding out the true facts of the injury....because it is news. So, is the FBS star entitled to less privacy than the W&M player? Is the W&M player entitled to more privacy than the FBS star player? In my opinion, everything else (severity) about the injury being equal, I don't even think an FBS school would even attempt to hide the extent or severity of the injury. They would announce the facts and everyone would move on.

Other posters who disagree with me say why ...and back and forth discussion can ensue. All you ever do is make insults; in fact, the "chairshot" fully epitomizes your approach.

Speaking of insults, you call a man who I have enormous respect for "evasive", "silly" and "disingenuous". You present your opinion as though you know the nature and extent of the injury. Would you have us believe that you had access to an MRI detailing the damage and then were qualified to project a recovery schedule when the MRI probably wasn't conducted until Tuesday? You think you deserve full information about a player's medical condition. I think you deserve 04-chairshot

Grew up watching service academy football and he really does remind me of a fullback in a classic triple option set. Sure he's big and hard to take down but he's also a smart runner, protects the ball, and is surprisingly fast. I think he will be great in our backfield the rest of the season.

One of the main reasons that Lucas chose the Tribe was because we recruited him as a running back. ASU wanted him to play linebacker. I can only imagine what he could do on that side of the ball.

I called Elon, they have turned all reserved seats over to the administration for "Family Weekend" activities.

My guess is that tickets will become available later.

I may just have to drive to the game and buy them on the "street."

I never buy Panthers tickets ahead of time.

It looks like Section 109 is available now. It was not when I looked a few days ago so I just bought a ticket on the hill. Perhaps I can sneak over to the W&M contingent like I did at the Charlotte game.

Football Game 5 - @Elon
I see we’ve been designated the Flo Football game of the week. Does that mean it will be broadcast for free like the first game was? I’ve managed to avoid paying so far but was getting ready to pull the trigger. Would love to go longer without giving Flo any more money though.

Flo raised their monthly rates, so if you were planning to go monthly for FB & BB season, you're better off with an annual subscription at this point. It's $150/year or $30/month, so you'd have to be only subscribing for 4 months in order to get savings. Last year I went monthly and set a reminder to cancel. This year I just signed up for an annual subscription.

hktribefan: the W&M site says that Flo will carry the game for free tomorrow!

WMInTheBurg: I don't think those rates you quote are accurate; at least not when compared to what the Tribe site has said in numerous articles so far this year (see quote below from most recent football article). If you are right and the articles have been posting outdated info...then that is more money than I intend to pay (I usually sign up for about 5 months from Nov.-March). It would also be annoying that bad info was being disseminated from official channels.

"All W&M conference and home games will be streamed on FloFootball this season. By following this link (flosports.tv/caa), CAA fans can sign up for an annual subscription to FloSports for $99.99 per year or a monthly rate of $14.99. Also, anyone who subscribes using a CAA member Institution domain (.edu) e-mail address will be eligible for a $9.99 subscription rate per month. Any subscription provides access to all content that FloSports offers."

RE: Football Game 5 - @Elon
Looks like there is still a 14.99/mo option if you go through flofootball. Last year I was able to subscribe to flofootball for whatever it was 13 or 14/mo then when basketball started I could watch those games. It took a stupid amount of navigating their extremely unfriendly interface to do so but it worked. If you just click "subscribe" you go to a page that requests $30/mo--pretty deceitful on their part. In 2021 with a .edu you could subscribe for 6.99/mo or 7.99/mo without for CAA only--we're at double that in 2 years. The price of disney, hulu, and espn+ is 12.99/mo today vs. 14.99/mo for CAA only. Egregious. Disney sucks and I don't want to give them money, but at least I'm getting 3 pretty good products vs. an absolute disaster with Flo. I've sent multiple customer inquiries regarding problems with streaming and never received a response. 2 years ago when Hampton played WM it was on ESPN+ and the view was bad and no scoreboard was displayed. I sent an online inquiry through espn+, received a phone call within minutes, the local crew was contacted and the whole problem was resolved --I don't take credit as I'm sure they received other complaints, maybe mine wasn't the one that fixed it, but at least someone spoke with me. That's a service worth paying for, Flo is a money grabbing crap product that embarrasses our league and brand.

Pivot, the Imoh family is awesome and if Bronson is out I hope Malachi has an amazing game tomorrow (I hope he does regardless, but if there is a hole to be filled I hope he gets some extra touches and a touchdown or two).

That's good info. I signed up last week a couple hours before game time in case I didn't go and also so my family could watch because they weren't going to go. So my signup process was definitely abbreviated and I didn't go looking for better rates. I hope other people don't have the same problem.

Yeah, the CAA Rate is still $14.99 a month. You can get your high rate changed by emailing them and telling them you thought you were signing up for the CAA rate and ask them to help you switch it.

It happened to me a couple years ago, when I didn't double check and they were very nice about changing it for me.

While I still think it is not the best, I DO enjoy being able to watch any CAA football or basketball game that might interest me (usually, upcoming opponents), as well as any of our sports I might want to check in on. Also, I, like Zorch, only subscribe for 5-6 months a year, so it still saves me money over the full Yearly subscription.

As with everything with FLO, signing up or renewing is very tricky. if you go straight to the FLO sports website and sign in so that you can renew the subscription, they try to hit you with a $150 annual fee. If you instead go to the Tribe Athletics website, go to the football schedule, and click on the watch live button for the Elon game, suddenly FLO offers you the CAA special annual rate of $99 or the monthly rate of $14.99. I renewed yesterday since tomorrow’s game will be the first “FLO” game that I have not seen live.

Watching reply of Elon at Campbell on phone which is bad enough compounded by the camera that seems like it never zooms in and far from the action….

Last three W&M/Elon games have been decided by 4 points or less.

Both teams have good rushing offenses and strong defense.

The Tribe enters the game as the only 4-0 FCS team in the country. Let's make it the only 5-0 team in the country later today.

Football Game 5 - @Elon
Yoder is officially out.

Elon barely beat Campbell and a few more minutes and that’s a win for the Camels. They beat an awful A&T and lost to GWU, who we smashed in the playoffs. I’m hoping for a decent passing game, strong defense and can see a 16-10 victory. I’m concerned about losing the turnover margin and emotional penalties.
