Charlotte will win some games. Any team that can hold an SEC team to 22 points is OK by me.

If JT Daniels stays healthy the entire year, Rice will make a bowl game, and be in the top half of AAC.

Take heart ECU fans, it gets better. Find a QB somehow, someway. We seem to have done so with Byrum Brown. He appears to have the most talent of anyone we've had since Quinton Flowers.

SMU lost to two good teams. They are one of the teams that could go on a serious run.

UTSA needs Frank Harris in the worst way, otherwise their season is sunk.

Tulane still the class of league in my opinion. Memphis needs to step up and beat Boise by any means possible.

Where do you suppose we look in season? Because we don't have one on the roster.

Get one in the portal in the off season. You may have to suffer through a bad season. There will be high level QB's in the portal looking for homes. It took us a while to get Byrum Brown. Credit to the previous coaching staff for finding him.

Okay, so I don't think most people think the league is destined to suck forever, but it sucks this year and that's pretty much the reality at this point. A school like ECU can't solve QB at this point, it's sunk and it sucks. UTSA has been crushed by the injury to Harris, even if he comes back they've taken losses that have harmed the league. The dye is cast for this year, only way to get the access bowl is basically Tulane winning out and getting some luck.

Too much emphasis is placed on performance with these ranking. It makes some people unhappy. We need a ranking including good things for every school.

Okay, good thing for ECU, considering the fact that there were awful weather conditions and a bunch of flooding and road closures ECU had probably 25k actually in the stands Saturday and I was impressed. I honestly expected it to look like a ghost town with those conditions and an 0-3 team against an FCS opponent.

To me, Memphis is the biggest letdown. They actually have talent, but it's poorly coached.

I didn't see that. You found a way to beat Houston. Daniels is a good QB, if he can stay healthy.

Daniel's and McCaffrey are our two shining stars. Without them, we'd have nothing. Looking forward to a new coach.

USF is doing well.

Looks good for now. Eager to start AAC play, as that will help clear things up quite quickly.

I'm not sure I'd rank ECU above anyone with a pulse.

The bottom half or so is a hot mess.

kinda disappointed by UAB and ECU just because Bill Clark had UAB rolling and I still don't get why they didn't just hire Bryant Vincent and keep Clark's staff intact...ECU looked solid last season with 8 Ws and I was hoping this would be their break-through year.

RE: Rank The AAC After Week 4
I think early in the season we still don't have a clear-cut pecking order, so tiers make more sense.....

Tier 1 (Above .500 Club)
Tulane
Memphis

Tier 2 (Maybe Average... Maybe Above Average Club)
Rice
SMU
Tulsa
Temple
USF

Tier 3 (The 1 Win Club)
UTSA
North Texas

Tier 4 (The 1 Win, But it was Against an FCS Team Club)
ECU
Charlotte
FAU
Navy
UAB

To me, Memphis is the biggest letdown. They actually have talent, but it's poorly coached.

Tulane is better than average, they lost to Ole Miss with their backup QB and even still hung in there and had a shot late. They are a good football team. Now other than them I agree I think Memphis and SMU are probably more average than good and think the rest of the league ranges from below average to awful.

Took the words out of my mouth. I will just add that USF looks much improved. A more experienced coach/program win that WKU game by 2/3 TDs, they had it early but let WKU stick around.

But honestly other than Tulane (dear lord let Willie die in New Orleans) and USF, not much to be optimistic about around here.

Temple might turn the corner this year. Memphis will probably continue to win 8/9 games a year against bad teams.

The success of the American has always been taking care of business against G conferences and having 2/3 teams capable of winning against good teams (P or G). Tulane looks the only one worthy and a lot of bad losses to G teams this year 01-lauramac2

Because we went 7-6 last year on a much weaker schedule with a roster that should've won 10 or 11 games. The offense looked completely inept for much of the year last season. We greatly appreciate, the Clark/ Vincent era, but also it was time to move on to a more modern offense. We would not be competitive in the AAC under Clark.

We lost to Liberty by fumbling the ball 4 times. we ran the ball for 241 yards and scored 14 points.

4 more turnovers in the loss to WKU. 0 second half points, 0 offensive adjustments.

FAU- 3 second half points. 0 offensive adjustments. another loss.

We had 2 running backs with 1713 and 948 rushing yards in 2022 and that covered a lot of sins. We weren't very good last year. Very much just paper dragons.

The only game from 2022 that we showed a pulse on offense was vs UTSA. we took them to OT and lost.

We had also been one of the top 20 most penalized teams over the last few years.

Dilfer had to bring in 50+ new players. we have 3 starters on last years roster playing in the SEC on NIL money. drew tuazama at SoCar, Jaylen key Tuscaloosa, and Quincy Mcgee at Ole miss. We've played 11 true freshman this year, 9 vs Georgia.

Just the top half of the AAC:
Tulane
Memphis
SMU
USF
Rice
Tulsa

The TIGERS have two huge home games in a row - Boise State and then Tulane on Oct 13 after both teams get a bye week Oct 6/7. These two games make or break the MEMPHIS season.

Bryan Vincent would have been the worst hire UAB could have made heading into the AAC. He didn’t even deserve to be the interim coach, Clark just made that announcement and peaced out on us. The offense was not attractive to skill position players outside of rbs, and the philosophy of playing on the edge of cheap and dirty vs hard was getting old. You guys would have all hated playing us because of the way the game went, and we would have been a .500ish team yearly.

Dilfer may or may not work out, but at least he is bringing guys into the building and trying to play football the way it’s played in 2023. If he fails, we try again.

That looks about right, for now. Rice happens to have an easy schedule this season, so I think that gives the false impression that we are slightly good. We stomped TSU (horrible) and beat a bad UH team (real bad) at home after losing a 21-point lead. Now we have ECU (down), UConn (bad), Tulsa (below average), and Charlotte (bad) coming up. We may win six games, seven with some luck, but our schedule is weak. The entire conference is collectively weak this season. Bad year.

I really do not know what to think of Tulsa yet. We could be really good or below average as you said. The problem is we have faced the 2 best offenses in the country thus far with 2 heisman candidate QBs....all while we are playing our 2nd and 3rd string QB. Once we get our QB back who went down on the second drive of the season...We will be able to get a better idea of this team. We have had to shorten our offensive play calls due to this.
