What sections are the visitors sections at WKU? I am getting tix for a group of us to come down from Shepherdsville to cheer on the Flames to victory. Trying to get tix thru LU, but will go thru WKU ticket office if I nees to.

It's 136 Last section on the bottom by the east endzone. But it really doesn't matter I doubt if Liberty will fill that section and even if they do the section next to it is students. So buy your ticket in the top upper deck ($25) and sit with Liberty fans in section 136. I'm 100% positive there will be open seats. I'm fairly sure you can only buy a seat in that section through Liberty.

WKU will host a FREE pregame concert with award-winning country singer and songwriter Jordan Davis prior to WKU's Football game. Don't have a clue who that is....I hardly keep up with country music

That's what I'm wondering. If true, that would be a big deal. Are you referring to KSU AD Milton Overton? This dude can keep a secret. He has historically been very tight lipped about KSU's movements and affairs. I'd be surprised if he let the cat out of the bag.

This is NOT accurate. New CUSA media deal is in the 750- 800,000 range. FACT.

Your source is including CFP money plus the 800K. He is mixing figures. CFP money is somewhere between 1.3 and 1.9M--currently and changes slightly each year (see my latest post on the realignment thread for more details and future possible figures).

Was in the ATL Journal Constitution.

Ill take an ADs word over forum chatter. Also had a JSU high ranking official tell me it was well over a million.

ULMs AD said SBC media deal was 1.015 million but forum chatter still wants to say its 2 million. Hard to understand how in the know sources are discounted and why differently.

TV Deal is Trash unless you are UTEP. UTEP ESPN2, Sun Belt ESPN2, everyone else in CUSA after thoughts on CBSSN and UESPN. Congrats to Judy who has taken the out of town fans like me completely out of the picture. La Tech has 1k there Thursday night, hope shes happy...

I’m happy. Could care less if Judy’s happy. But she did good with this deal.

Thoughts?

I don't think there is a way to answer this question as written.

(I mean the first question, obviously it's easy to have "thoughts").

For one thing, it's possible that it is good for the short run but bad overall. Or the opposite. I can think of arguments either way (but we won't know for years, if then).

I've made my position pretty clear since it was announced, but even I will admit that the whole thing is about trade-offs and priorities and circumstances and yes, history.

I don't think you could do a deal that makes 9 different fanbases happy, even if you had schools much more alike than what we have. It makes perfect sense to me that opinions vary (even within those fanbases).

RE: Is the New TV deal a success?
Im happy but I am different than most.

I like weekday game. I live close to the campus which makes my situation different than some. Usally go to jr high games on Mondays, High School games on Fridays and sometimes Thursdays. Tuesday and Wednesdays are days I need evening entertainment. Mondays and Sundays are NFL nights/days for me. Thursday NFL often happen before I realize it had happened but I watch NFL first unless a conference game is on.

Saturdays during October are for catching up around the house or walking.

I still don't have a clue as to why UTEP's mid week games are on espn2. I would bet that espn and CUSA hdqtrs wish those games were on espn+ or not on at all with rhe season UTEP is having. Anyone with even a few brain cells still functioning selecting games for their network should have gone with the more obvious choices of WKU, Liberty for better and more entertaining football.

After 6 weeks of the 2023 season; the TV Deal is definitely an Improvement. Is it a success? CBSNN does a great job ESPNU is good and ESPN+ is tolerable. Beats the Hell out of Stadium and ESPN3 03-lmfao However, we've probably got a ways to go before we call it a Success!

Success, meaning an improvement over the last deal? Absolutely. And I can say this even as a newbie, because as an FCS member, I used to point and laugh at the old CUSA media deal.

Success, relative to the best deals in G5? No, man. Don't be stupid. We have a long way to go. But at least it's a step in the right direction.

All you need to do is look at the AAC to understand espn's thinking....

to them larger city means more eyes even if reality says otherwise. So they figured a Texas school and a Miami school playing is there best chance for eyes. You also have two Texas schools and one of those in Houston. As for UTEP vs NMSU I believe it was the time zone and espn trying to draw fans from it

I don't know how members feel, but as a fan of college football I have watched more CUSA games this season than the last several combined, even when there was a team I liked to watch lose (Marshall) in the league. The CBSSN games have been very very well produced. When App played at Wyoming and was on CBSSN, I was pretty jealous of the production value.

NOT Forum "chatter".

The CUSA media deal was reported in The Athletic and ESPN and other sources**-see below-- to be in the 750-800,000 range. This is from sources commonly known.

If you ADD the new CUSA figure to the CFP National Media Deal that every FBS school gets (at different amounts) then you are in that 2 million dollar range.

JSU "Media Deal" TOTAL money (CFP+CUSA media deal)>> about 2 M

JSU "share" of CUSA conference media deal (from espn/cbs)>>> about $800,000

**SOURCES

--FBS Schedules (11-10-22) refers and quotes story from Brett McMurphy (Action News) that schools will receive at least $800,000 per year.

--The Athletic (11-9-22) reports 750,000 "CUSA set to play more midweek games after deal with ESPN CBS--Chris Vannini

--The News and Advance (Virginia newspaper) (11-10-22) "CUSA's new media rights deal offers 'unprecedented' exposure for Liberty" "...the average payout to members will average out to $800,000 over the course of the five year Deal."--Damien Sordelett

--Sportskeeda.com "...worth $800,000 a year for each school" 8-24-23, Vincent Pensabene

Even More sources available--most of these Not behind a paywall.

Additonal related Information, SOURCE: The Athletic, 11-16-22.

"For the 2021-22 season...the G5 leagues [are] splitting $95 million in aggregate."

This refers to the CFP money which schools receive. G5 schools divide an 80% Base amount equally between each league. Then the remaining 20% is split based on a performance formula ranking the Five G5's after each season.

This FINAL Total (BASE plus Conference portion of perf. ranking) is the CFP money which is referred to above---estimated at 1.3-1.9M last year for CUSA teams.

Again--simply ADD CFP money (1.3-1.9M) TO the CUSA TV media amount (800,000).

College AD's sometimes add these TWO TOGETHER when talking about "their" media deal to make it sound bigger. Even though the individual league deal is smaller.

The CFP deal amount is expected to go UP soon (see details in realignment thread).

The CUSA deal is the same amount for Five Years.

It's a success because before this almost no one knew who Jacksonville State or Sam Houston State were. Now everybody does. The thrilling endings of Jacksonville State/Sam Houston and Sam Houston/Liberty were clearly a success. Even the MTSU/Sam Houston game and WKU/LA Tech had wild momentum swings.

Good points. I like that after or during Liberty's games on CBS Sports Network, they not only talk about our game, but show highlights of other CUSA games. This never happens on ESPN or other networks.
