i don't understand propping up Wichita State and degrading the new adds. Wichita State is a team that could kill your NET ranking if you lose to them. Two good seasons out of six in the AAC. Sure, they can eventually turn it around and scale up, but so can the new programs.

I am not chasing the rabbit anymore. I am done justifying.

I usually have data backing my opinions, but in the end it is just an opinion which my be disregarded.

Marshall made runs in the tournament? That was the measure of success you proposed. It couldn't be consecutive NCAA tournament appearances, otherwise you wouldn't have claimed that Memphis never did, because we have during that timeframe. You also can't pretend that a supposed "bubble team" made the tournament when there was no post-season -- that's serious grasping.

Two good seasons out of six isn't stellar performance. You've only been in the top three twice and the year you won the conference was a fluke. That was the year under Brown when you went 16-6, and Memphis beat you by 20. You went on to lose in your first four game to Dayton who lost in the first round.

I hope so. Believe it or not I'm a fan of the Shockers, but it's like an abusive relationship rooting for the team. We need you guys to bring back the level of success you enjoyed in the MVC.

Wichita hasn't been as strong as hoped, but also only had one year outside of Kenpom's top 100 while firing two coaches... Things will turn around soon.

------WSU Memphis
2018 21 161
2019 66 56
2020 39 59
2021 68 31
2022 94 24
2023 102 20
Avg 65 59

WSU also has robust fan and community support.

It's waning.

Big Slump: Ticket sales, actual basketball attendance down considerably compared with past decade

Congrats to the AAC!! Thats about as close to a home run addition as the league could make. Having Army and Navy gives the league a unique level of brand identity and national prestige that will help to insure the league is always a valuable media property.

No doubt and if it helps to lure Air Force, consolidating the three service academies, even better. A net win for the AAC.

I didn't say they made the NCAA tournament the COVID year. Just laying out stats that showed they had a shot. Other than that, yeah. Spot on. Good work.

Believe me, I want Wichita State to be good. I had high hopes that we would be battling it out with you, Houston, and Cincy every year for the top spot. I'm hoping FAU will continue their high level of success, and having Wichita State (and hopefully other programs) in the fray would help to elevate this league. We shouldn't be relegated to two bids a year.

It's a great addition that may give us a shot at Air Force and Colorado State again in the future.

Moderators, can we keep this thread about Army, and not WSU basketball? Take that talk somewhere else. I'm sure there's an old basketball thread where it belongs.

Sorry about that! Congrats to Army. Happy to have them in the conference, even though our schools paths won't cross.

You're right and I think it's done. Apologies to the board for contributing to the noise. Sometimes my passion for basketball gets the best of me.

Navy's change came when Notre Dame moved our game to week zero and Dublin.

We wanted the Labor Day weekend off after international travel. I don't know how much discussion there was about flexing from week 1 to week 2 (when we ended up adding FCS opponent) but you were already full up in those September ooc opportunities.

I know you guys wanted the bye week. However our bye week was September 16th and yall had a conference game. So Im not sure why that couldnt have been scheduled over a year in advance. Possibly we knew we may have ended up with a week 1 bye but im sure the Sun Belt would have scheduled us a game

Welcome to the league Army! I guess this makes another AAC team I won't feel comfortably rooting against on game day. 02-13-banana

Curious on the financial terms. Do they receive a Navy share from the outgoing SMU media payout. Does the AAC try to attract another basketball school now? Would love a VCU, Dayton, Davidson, Etc.

The AAC absolutely is pursuing a basketball-only add.

Hard for me to believe they would accept less than Navy.

I'm sure they won't be. My guess is they'll be getting the exact payout Navy gets. They are basically a substitution for SMU, who was getting the full OG share. So my guess is ESPN leaves the contract completely untouched, they get the same FB only share Navy does, and that non-FB share just gets divided among everyone else unless we add a non-FB member.

I would bet the non-FB share simply goes back to ESPN, and everybody else remains the same.
