Good luck in the AAC. That will be a 2 team league with the Tigers as its flag-bearer.

Btw.....where was JQ today? Was really disappointed. He was not ready for prime time.

The second half was much improved and if we played both halves the same way, we would have won this. Sometimes a loss is exactly what a team needs. Losing to Penn did wonders for Villanova and the same can be said of the FAU game versus Bryant.

You probably can’t press like that the whole game, but we definitely wouldn’t have lost the first half by 28 if we would have pressed some. At any rate, the lack of defensive energy was a real problem to start the game. That can’t happen.

I'm not talking defense. I'm talking about actually making your shots.

Take your clown show and go away. Nobody cares about your opinion here. This wasn't a moral victory, we got beat. To pretend that a loss is always negative is stupidity. We will learn from our mistakes and it will make us stronger for it. At least we didn't drop a game against lesser competition. What's your excuse for Villanova crapping the bed against Penn? It happens.

Penn has beaten Nova 2 out of the last 3 times at the Palestra. Was a Big 5 game. Was no fluke.
You don't know what you are talking about.
Here's a suggestion......
Don't stray too far away from the AAC bs. You are absolutely out of your league otherwise.

Why would anyone in Memphis care about some stupid informal Philly-specific tournament? Last time Penn won was in 2019 and it's completely irrelevant. What's relevant are objective metrics and rankings, something which you are too slow to comprehend. No surprise. Admit that you have zero clue when it comes to basketball. Go away and stop embarrassing yourself.

Yeah...Penn's home court for about 100 yrs where they win 80% of their games isn't a home court advantage.
Didn't you read where I wrote they won the last 2 of 3 there vs Nova? No other Big 5 team can say that in the last decade/15 yrs or so.
Btw....almost every game at the Palestra vs Nova is like that last game cept Nova usually wins. They are NEVER easy. i don\t give a flying f#$* about rankings and ratings....throw them out the window because any Big 5 game can be an upset.
You people just don't get the Big 5. The Temple people on here do.

Alas and sadly,,,,the Big 5 has gone down the tubes. Wont bore ya with the details but the Big 5 ain't close to the same this yr and for the yrs to come. To begin with....they are letting in Drexal. I believe they also have some kind of lore in Memphis basketball history, (Malik Rose ring a bell to ya?). Now, they are included in the ruination of the Big 5.
I don't believe I have to defend Penn. They don't need it. Is a great school and a great athletic tradition and damned tough basketball teams. Y'all, simply, just don't know.

Lastly.....someone on here was correct. That game DID light a fire under Nova like maybe this will light a fire under Memphis.

That's why the last time they made the tourney was in 2018 and lost in the first round. Take your nonsense somewhere else. This is 2023 in case you are confused.

Now MSU, don't get offended here but when you wrote this...

" Last time Penn won was in 2019 and it's completely irrelevant"...

It screams at me that you just don't know. I don't blame you because you are there and the Big 5 is here. That was not only the 1st time someone other than Nova won the Big 5 outright in like 6 yrs but the 1st loss by Nova during that time in the Big 5. That WAS a big deal here in Philly. You just don't get it.. Nova still hasn't lost a Big 5 title since then either. That's how big of a deal that was in 2019.
Point is...every team in the Big 5 always has a chance for an upset. No one goes into any of those games without having that in the backs of their heads...no matter how great they are.
It was a great 70 yr tradition. Do NOT mock what you literally don't know anything about.
Tho....that does seem to be your MO.

You're clueless my friend. The entire point of the back and forth is the fact that Penn is a mediocre team at best. I don't care what the history is. This is the last exchange I will have with you on this as it's obvious you have no concept of the here and now.

so I took a nap after the football game and when I turned the hoops game on we're down 22-53. over the next few mins we cut their lead to 56-69. I was really impressed how the team didn't quit and made a game of it.

Well, at least now it seems you're gonna shut up about things you don't know.
Thankfully.

I'll tell you one thing I know for sure. You're one of the most obtuse people this board has ever seen. I know a second thing too. This is 2023, and Penn is a mediocre basketball team at best. Every metric and ranking system that exists validates my point. Do you wake up every day amazed that the sun rose again?

Penn was a Q3 loss for Villanova. In what universe are they a good team? Furthermore they are ranked:

190 Kenpom
221 Torvik

Yes, we are all laughing at you. The army of one.

Epic Mind Blown

I couldn't agree more. To come back from being down 35 points against a team of that caliber was a testament to the grit of our squad. At one stage we had a 24-2 run. Sure it didn't make up for the abysmal first half, but it shows a tenacity that is encouraging. You can watch film and address flaws, but you can't coach this type of resilience and ability to band together as evidenced by our team in the second half.
