IDK ... IIRC Harbaugh did everything prep-wise except be on the sidelines for those games (my understanding is he was allowed to coach all week, just not during the game, maybe I am wrong). Beyond that, Penn State, Maryland and Ohio State weren't very good IMO. Ohio State and Penn State got dumped in their NY6 games, Maryland, well IMO they were a mediocre team.

Alabama was a weak version of their former selves, nothing like the 2020 team or before and they needed OT to beat them. Many didn't think they belonged in the playoffs (I did, but many thought FSU got hosed). And Washington turned out to be another PAC paper tiger IMO, finally exposed after numerous close games all year.

So not very impressive to me.

IMO they are arguably the weakest champ of the CFP era. I don't think they would have beat even the one-loss champs such as 2014 Ohio State, 2015 Alabama, 2016 Clemson, etc. Those teams were much stronger in terms of talent, IMO.

But we all have different takes. That's what makes discussing CFB fun.

SEC fans going out of their way to discount any non-SEC teams.

Michigan is no where close to the weakest champ of the CFP era.

SEC fans are just bitter about not being the national champions for once. Even worse, it's not even a team from the South like Clemson or Florida State. We actually play football north of the Mason Dixon line???? Us Yankees play football???

It's "We Yankees play football." Simplify the sentence to check the grammar. "We play football vs Us play football." I thought your schools were supposed to be academically superior. Michigan won. They played Washington. There will be another championship game next year, hopefully. And dignity is found in acting like you've been there before and expect to be there again. Did you ever play football? Respect is earned on the field. It however is usually lacking in the stands. There is a comradery found in the endurance of competition which is lacking among those living vicariously as fans.

Also, things have changed with the portal. One of Ole Miss's running backs will be playing for Michigan next year. I'm not even sure all of their players are Yankees anymore. Of all the changes made to the game, I like the portal least, but then it goes with professionalization of the sport.

I'm not. Read the thread. Also note the two threads I shut down and the comments in the last post of the first one. But I do have great disdain for graduates who can't add and subtract, multiply and divide, without a calculator, let alone can't make change for a dollar. That disdain, however, is honed for those who butcher the language. Call it an old man thing, but precision in language matters and the misappropriation of words destroys the continuity of meaning. And bad grammar is a virus passed from one person's composition into the mind of another, and also spread by the spoken word until the improper no longer sounds incorrect. It is a reflection on the quality of education received whether from a Southern or Northern school and the pandemic of it crosses all borders.

Well, Alabama has been winning Championships with California QB's for quite a while.

Or...language is simply an ever-changing construct designed to convey ideas to others. (Just tonight Jeopardy had a category dealing with the changing history of particular words.)

Time sure moves slow sometimes. It's only been about 2 weeks since this game. Feels like a month ago.
