RE: Rice vs Notre Dame - Game 3
Nice K by Blank. Let’s see if he can get out of this.
Another walk, but this time intentional to load the bases to try to get the force at home. So up to 14 walks for the day.

Charcuterie (grand salami) way over the hill beyond the left field fence on a batting practice 2-0 pitch. Wow!
Davis: "He absolutely demolished it. Exactly what you're supposed to do in those situations."

Well, it only took the Owls pitching staff 173 pitches to get through 9 innings.
8-13 going to B9.

Bullpen gives up 10 runs in the final 3 innings. Incredible.

2 run HR for McDonald makes it 10-13 with 1 out.

RE: Rice vs Notre Dame - Game 3
Should be a walkoff homer by McDonald, but instead just reduces the lead to 13-10. I am happy about the bats thus far, but my goodness, the bullpen remains an abomination. That’s the ballgame. You would think 10 runs would be enough, but not with this pitching staff.

8-13 going to B9.
By comparison, it only took 117 pitches for ND to get through 9 innings even though they gave up 10 runs.

On a completely unrelated note, David Shaw gets the last out for the Horns today.

Can someone make sure it's plugged in and has downloaded the most recent updates?!?

Absolutely!! Especially the update that includes a projected strike zone and "phantom" batter (left- and right-handed, please), so you can tell when and gather data on how often you're walking & hitting folks.
One would think these would be standard features. But perhaps it requires an upgrade from the Free Demo to the Professional Edition?

Watched most of the game and in the middle innings I actually thought we might win this one. However, our pitchers, for the most part, insisted on operating in sub-par mode. Swept.
Still, it’s only the first series in a long season. I choose to be optimistic that we somehow salvage a .500 season.

Of the 3 major men's sports from the fall of 2021, Bloomgren might be the sole survivor 3 years later?

Why does Jose keep going back to bullpen guys who who failed repeatedly last year? Shoshan, Vincent, Perkins. Give the Freshmen a chance to step up...and not when the game is already out of reach. Despite the HR he gave up, I like Jackson Blank's stuff. He might have the best curveball on the staff. With the bases loaded and an 2-0 count, he was forced to groove one.
The insane amount of walks and hits batsmen these 3 games is really inexcusable. All these guys threw strikes in high school. At some point you have to point the finger at the coaching. You don't get this amount of walks in Little League play.
One final, long standing pet peeve-- if you're going to call for the bunt, teach them how to bunt and practice it. We have two successful bunts in 5 attempts this weekend, and it's quite clear from the failed attempts that the fundamentals were not there. Note-- Notre Dame was a perfect 6 for 6 in bunts over the wekeend, and their technique was text book; fully squaring around and committing themselves to the sacrifice.
