Headed out to the UofL Football practice, but L-Yes is correct let cut ties with them. Outside of FAU-(and that is for respect to THE PIPE) we play no schools outside of the BCS this year.

The BCS conferences are perfectly willing to protect its bowl tie-ins, but there is no way they would ever abandon playing non-BCS schools during the regular season. Now that they've added a 12th game to the season, all the BCS conference schools have the goal of adding a cupcake game at home. The math is impossible. Auburn and Alabama would never back away from playing non-BCS schools. They currently pay 7 home games every year, 3 of which are either I-AA or mid-major teams.

Well AACardfan they actually now can get away with not play Non BCS DI schools. All they have to do is schedule DIAA schools since they changed the regulation on how they will be counted towards bowl eligibility. There is now really no difference in playing a DIAA school and a Non BCS DI school.

Good point.
Does anyone believe that change was a result of the trouble many bowl sponsors had last year of finding eligible teams? I recall reading a few articles last year that indicated such was the case.

It has everything to do with it imo. Div 2 schools will clean up and weak BCS programs like Kentucky will be shelling out cash for home wins (see Ohio last season).

Sorry, but UL was o the wrong side of that fence last year and I remember how bad it was to have a team as good as almost any BCS school without an equal opportuntity to prove that fact.
We live in America remember? This is the land of the free and the home of the brave. We are supposed to be a country where anyone can "grow up" and prove their worth to society and hit it big. A land of equal opportunity ( at least on paper). "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."
I for one hate the BCS system that promotes ideas like one university is better then another university because it is a "BCS" school. That kind of thinking is segregational, racist, egotistical and just plain wrong in my book.

I still favor a 16 team playoff.

Maybe I see us as living that dream? I for one think we've earned it.

Louisvile earns the good fortune that is currently happening to them. They invested at the right time, in the right sports, and hired the right coaches. To a somewhat lesser degree, so did Cincy. I wish those 2 schools well, they deserve where they are.
Schools currently outside the BCS can only blame themselves for not investing wisely.
However it is bizarre that some feel that "I'm in the club now, close the door as fast as you can.".....and "bizaare" is being kind.

Yes, it is hypocritical.
I don't agree with your other post, however, about being segregational and racist. Instead, it is more elitist and protectionist. The big names have the money and they don't want to give it up to anyone.

You guys are the biggest bag of wind in college football. Never has a program's fans got so swollen up with so little. What a bunch of arrogant pr$cks.

Not entirely. Investment is part of it. Opportunity is the other part. If the BCS schools don't afford the other schools the opportunity, then they will be hard-pressed to create the opportunities themselves. UL, UC and SFU were afforded the opportunity because of Miami, VT and BC leaving. I believe if a program like UL sustained a competitive program for several years, then they could eventually have gotten on the inside on their own. The problem is that sustaining a competitive program outside the BCS conferences is improbable. The top players know they can't win a national championship in a non-BCS school, so they mostly stay away. Petrino would have jumped ship to LSU for sure this year if Louisville didn't make it to the Big East.
Is anybody else besides me getting tired of talking about this garbage? I just want the season to start already!
Oh yeah, and GO CARDS!

AACardfan, I have to apologize, I forget at times there are a few, just a few, Louisville posters who are decent people. There is another, Army56Mike, who is unfailingly polite and decent as well. Can you tell me, what exactly is it that makes the seeming vast majority of Louisville fans, certainly those who communicate on the internet, such arrogant morons?

True, but think about who is BCS and who is not, particularly in the South. UT is in, Memphis is not. Mississippi is in, Southern Miss. is not. Vanderbilt is in , UTChatt is not. I think if someone was to research the minority percentages of 1A BCS schools and compare them to IA non-BCS schools there might be enough ammo there to shoot the whole thing down.
