This made the most sense though. Tech recruits Texas and Marshall recruits Florida. Both bowl attendances would have suffered if it were the other way around, imo.

I would be incredibly ticked if I were Marshall or MT.
Im angry we didnt get a shot at a p5, but i will say that NIU vs Marshall will garner higher ratings than HoD this season.
You want to make a bet on that?

Looks like Dallas has done some redecorating. I like what they've done with the place.

You gotta love seeing that. This advertising and a great showing in the game will certainly turn some recruits' heads toward Louisiana Tech.

Impressive - anyone know how many alumni we have in DFW?

I don't know about biggest, but it is one of the best. 2011 we played TCU the year after they were in the Rose Bowl, but that was in San Diego at the Poinsettia Bowl (kind of far). 2008 we played in the Independence Bowl vs. NIU (kind of boring). 2001 we played Clemson in the Humanitarian Bowl in Boise (kind of far too).
Dallas against Illinois on the Friday after Christmas is pretty hard to beat! I think a ton of Tech fans will be at this game.

No, TCU in San Diego was bigger and maybe Maryland or Louisville in the Indy bowl.

HoD bowl is a real gem for CUSA-W. What a great location to have your bowl game. Far enough from home but close enough to make the drive.
There seems to be a decent amount of buzz in your fan base. I hope you guys pack the house and rep CUSA well.

RE: Heart of Dallas Bowl: Louisiana Tech vs Illinois
Personally I see this bowl and matchup to be superior to Marshall's, not necessarily because Illinois is a powerhouse in football this year, but any time a G5 has a shot at a P5 in a bowl game, it's a generally a good thing.
I know I've read that Marshall likes to recruit Florida, and Dallas is a relatively easy drive for LaTech fans, but my question is did Tech and Marshall have much say-so in where they wished to be placed? If so, why are some Marshall fans not satisfied with their placement?

I'm curious how it was decided too; we will probably never know.
I'm thinking the CUSA office lobbied that this was the best way to sell the most tickets. Marshall would probably send the same amount of fans to either bowl since they have to fly anyway, but Tech would have FAR fewer going to Boca Raton than Dallas. I believe Marshall did actually have the final say and is interested in playing a higher rated conference champion. Worked out really well for all parties . . . except NIU and Illinois.

I don't think Marshall would sell the same tickets in Dallas as Boca. Yes their fans have to fly either way but in Dallas they'd have to be willing to spend Christmas in Dallas. In Boca they can fly home Christmas Eve. Tech fans don't have to be willing to spend Christmas in Dallas. We're doing our regular Christmas, driving to Dallas Friday morning, and we'll be home in time for dinner Friday evening.
