RE: Open Thread - Men's Hoops
Pitt also grasping at straws to avoid losing to a lame duck on their home court. Not impressed.

Its really tough to say how good Pitt is. They had a really soft OOC schedule.

IDK - they just haven't impressed me this year. UVA is certainly up there too. That game @ UVA will be a good barometer for the Canes.
Virginia probably has the best resume of any team in the ACC right now.
Aaaand they lose to VT.
Upsets happen in conference play. The 2013 ACC Champion Miami team lost to a terrible Wake team coached by Jeff Bzdelik.
Still think UVa's wins over WVU and Villanova are the best pair of wins anyone has in the ACC right now. If UVA is able to bounce back from their loss against VT, then no one will remember it in March.
I guess we'll have to see how the rest of the year shapes up (obviously). It's just stuck in my mind that UVA isn't that great for whatever reason, not sure why and I know they have played a good schedule so far and done well. Miami bias is very strong in basketball now for me for whatever reason. Utah and Butler blowouts really made an impression on me of good play, so I'm admittedly in the bubble of, we look really good and on paper others don't seem as good.

These refs honestly look like they have cash on NC State. Louisville was up big but fouls are now 16 against UofL to 5 against State, FT's attempts 23-6 for State. Beyond one-sided.

NCSU wearing black jerseys at home against Louisville has me confused at times.

I was expecting a sell out for our game against NCST. I guess we don't rate as a big game.

State/Wake game on Sunday is going to be interesting.
Wake's chances this year at the NCAA's relies on how well they play against the mid-tier and the low-tier of the ACC.

I believe Wake will win their fair share of those games. They need to pull off an upset or two of the big boys.

Smallest "Big" Crowd at the Carrier Dome in years...only 26k expected tomorrow for UNC. Students are still on break though.

It would also be nice if Indiana, UCLA and LSU did well. Those could turn out to be three nice wins.
I think Gregory has added some nice pieces to Tech this year. They're going to be a tough out.

I tired to tell GT Swag that his boys weren't that bad. Nice win over UVA.

Cavman loses back to back to the two of the three worst teams in the conference. I'm VERY unimpressed with the ACC so far.

Oklahoma and Kansas are really good. Then what? I don't see how in the world you think Iowa State, W. Va, Baylor are better than UVA, Louisville, Miami. You think Texas Tech is better than Pitt? You don't think Duke or UNC could beat Oklahoma or Kansas on a neutral court?
The Big 12 is good but it's not by much.

Dunno about Duke, haven't seen them yet. But I think UNC wouldn't do well against either. And the Big 12 is deeper than the teams you have listed. Ole Tubby has Texas Tech playing respectable ball too.

On a neutral court, we can beat just about anyone. So can Oklahoma and Kansas.
Here are the teams I didn't list from the Big 12 : Kansas St, Oklahoma St, TCU, Texas. I just don't see how you can say those teams are better than the middle to bottom of the ACC. I can easily see GT beating all 4 of them. I can also see GT losing to all of them, but that's my point. I don't see how you can definitively say one is better than the other.
You must want Gregory to get fired. Every good win for him signifies him staying longer.

Louisville has lost to Michigan St & Kentucky by 6 points combined & on the road. They've been able to step it up for the big games. Kentucky needed to hit 11-23 3's as well, well above their average.
