As an ODU fan, Im starting to like Marshall. Maybe this is the time to bring in a true rivalry between Marshall and ODU. D'Antoni can make it happen.

Watched the interview, and all I can say is that I think he is a class act. Congrats Marshall! Win it all!

C’mon mang. You sure you didn’t get a bong for Christmas in ‘72? Lol. Cause I’d have to look it up but dem shittts Pong wasn’t out until later than that. I remember a bunch of us playing Pong and Pong Baseball and other games on a tiny black and white tv in 1980 on the USS Guadalcanal during a Med Cruise. MARG-2-80.

Made crossing the Atlantic less boring. And I know Pong hadn’t been out that long. Maybe a couple years.

As for good ole BASIC and COBOL I took a class at Western with that mess in the early 80’s. I guess if I want I could call myself a ‘coder’ lol. Hell, the only command I remember from that class was ‘go to’. I can’t even remember what we had to make it do but that was one of the commands I learned.

Dan is awesome.

I mean honestly, this is a dream for me. Ten-ish years ago when Mike D'Antoni made his run with the Steve Nash Suns, I instantly became a fan of the up-tempo style.

Not only are we implementing it here at Marshall, but were implementing it at a very high level right now. This is beyond exciting!

My earliest memory of video gaming was from the original Atari 2600. However, I came to bloom in the Nintendo NES era.

No joke, I still have that Nintendo Entertainment System proudly profiled in our entertainment closet in the living room. I still have all of my old NES cartridges, my kids love to play them!

How much blowing is involved in getting those cartridges to play? ill never forget that... having to blow into them, sticking them halfway in the slot to where the end of the cartridge was resting on the edge and then having to slam it down into the machine to get it read
Those were the days

Atari Console Pong: November 1972
Sears Atari Pong Home Edition: Christmas 1975.
Either way... good times...
And either one, my school was just a couple few years removed from their last NCAA appearance.

He is absolutely correct. I was telling someone the other day that CUSA basketball is a very, very tough basketball conference. It's brutal. Yes, the officiating SUCKS in CUSA, but the basketball quality is very good.

Curiously what's that got to do with age? That's the same acronym we use for web design or other graphical software's that provide a user interface that's click and drag or word-like. That's cool if it's got roots elsewhere.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

Just saw yalls exchange. I figured you had to have had some roots in programming... But ya y'all are old talking about Cobol. :) my first language was vb 3.0. And I think I just had a realty check... that was early 90s.

Hell. Apologies to my boy stink then. He could have had one that early. He still could have gotten a bong for that christmas as well so I’m sticking to that statement.

It’s all good though. Like I said, the first time I played one other than an arcade was on that cruise. I’m sure some of the guys in the barracks may have had one. One of our bigger dumbassses had the first computer I ever saw. It was around the same time. Either 1979 or 1980. It was a little Radio Shack model and he had hooked up a cassette tape player to it for storage. Dude was a knucklehead but still very smart about electronics. Mike Kashkin if you’re out there check in amigo.

That’s what they were teaching back then. Actually I think they were teaching BASIC but covered how COBOL and FORTRAN were earlier languages. It was the only programming class I took. I veered back into the repair side of electronics and did that for years. Did have to load a ton of Digital (DEC) software into our machines over the years. I was precise as hell loading that stuff as a software load took hours on our equipment. This was early, early OCR days. Cool stuff to remember.

Surprisingly, not unsurprisingly, my buddy had a gig a year or 2 ago converting fortran to java for a federal agency. So it's still alive and well in many places it shouldn't be.

I think this was an astute observation on D'Antoni's part and also very classy to share the glory of the moment.

good luck tomorrow Herd.....as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I like D'Antoni's style and personality.....he reminds me a lot of that midwest, no frills - no bs type of personality that I still miss at times...

Everybody should be beating the CUSA drum.
Heck when your conference wins a game in the tourney 4 years in a row additional CUsa schools should be invited.
