RE: AAC Spring Football Information Thread
Ohio University is in Athens. It's not anywhere near Akron. UC is on the other side of the state, around 2.5 hours away.

the guy in the podcast must have mispoke and mixed up the names...his point was that it would be really easy for his family to come to games...which is true

No easier than someone in Athens, TX visiting their kid at UH.

Even more impressive is that all three commits are from Memphis (originally). There was a time when the top local guys would never consider the hometown team. Now, when recruits say they chose the Tigers over commitable offers from SEC teams, it's actually true. Fun times for Tiger fans. Perception lags reality. Times are a changing.

First time ever since 247 composite rankings that we signed two 4 stars in the same class. And got a 3rd one visiting this weekend (Darius Thomas ).

Dunno about 247 but Shamar Nash is a 4-star on Rivals, is also visiting and is committed to Mizzou.

Coach Montgomery's comments.

https://bonesville.net/2018/05/25/coach-...-progress/

Quote:“I’ll start with the defensive side of the ball because I think that’s where we made the most gains,” Montgomery said Wednesday. “David Blackwell (defensive coordinator) has come in and given us a scheme I think our kids were able to grab a hold of and not just learn, but start to dominate in it.

“Having him coach the middle linebacker position has really been beneficial to two of our more talented players on our team, Aaron Ramseur and Bruce Bivens. Because of that communication from the coordinator to the linebacker position — our linebacker is, of course, our quarterback on defense — it helped everything.

3 recruits and two are four stars and the other a three star. Stay close to this pace and we'll have a scary recruiting class. 05-mafia

Quote:"This is as big of a statement as you're going to see made from a Group of Five program on the recruiting trail," said Barton Simmons, director of scouting for 247 Sports. "For Memphis to fend off the outsiders and fend off the big sharks on the national recruiting scene for their own local guys this early, it's a huge testament to what's going on there and to the momentum they've created."

I agree that it is a big statement, but be prepared for the reclassification as three stars in the immediate future. see Cincinnati's last recruiting class. We had two four stars that lost a star when they verbaled. At any rate, very good job Memphis.

RE: AAC Spring Football Information Thread
Houston lands Terence Williams. He ran for 1050 yards and 11 TDs on 5.7 yards per carry two years ago. That was when Briles was still at Baylor. We now have our RB1.

Houston has the most talent in the conference. The additions of Terence Williams, Raelon Singleton, Isaiah Chambers, Darrion Owens, and Deontay Anderson are ridiculous. And we are still in it for Nick Watkins. And looking to add a grad transfer OL. Houston has to win the West. No excuses for the Major this season.
