We were top 20-ish not too long ago. But it's a new world. All the SEC schools are actually pouring money into basketball - not just Kentucky.
Does it change the narrative or expectations for some of you insisting we could do better by firing Penny?

It’s really dumb to compare sports. And even dumber now with NIL. I think a lot of our “fans” love it when basketball struggles. Never have understood that.

There truly are "football onlys". I think they don't like the urban and sometimes rogue association with our basketball program.
And there are also "basketball onlys". I suspect they like to follow SEC football and Memphis basketball.
I don't really get it. If my fandom wasn't associated with the entire school - I'd certainly pick easier programs to root for. Like Bama football and Dook basketball.
Is what it is. Or just skip the imperfect college scene altogether and focus on pros.

He's obviously the best coach we've had since Cal. And he's a local legend.
You want to fire him after 1 bad year? Get serious.
The same people calling for him to be fired are the same people who were against him from day 1. You've just been quiet about it for the past couple of years.

I was against the hire from day 1, but I do not think he should be fired. For better or worse, we have to roll with him at this point.

One can possess nuanced opinions. There is a place in between the happy clappers and the miserables. It's a nice place with fields of objectivity blossoming with pretty flowers, flowing brooks, and rolling hills. You're welcome to come visit, sometime.

You were - and to your credit you don't seem to be leading the torches crew right now. But make no mistake..."everyone" does not "love" Penny. There are local factions at play and other issues. I will agree that most FANS do love Penny.
And I agree there are nuances. I am certainly not a happy clapper. But I see Penny compared to everyone except Cal, and realize we could do A LOT worse.
