And Connecticut has done so without the benefit of the "relationship" Krzyzewski (a great coach for sure) had with Nike during the latter part of his career.

Seems like they’re able to do both pretty successfully

Why?

Uconn has just as much ability as Purdue to maintain a football team. The only difference between the two programs is Purdue got a seat at the table.

UConn has obviously already committed to being the premier basketball school and has the results to show for it. Football has been successful in the past and will be again. UConn is committed to being one of the premier athletic departments in college athletics. Outsiders will get it eventually.

Agreed. They can and should keep football going. I don't think they will languish in independence forever. Eventually they will land a spot in a Power league that is actually going to survive this mess. If not, a Northeastern football only league might eventually be in the cards as well.

This is categorically false.

Few schools in the country have a better ability than Purdue to maintain a football program.

UConn has 255,000 living alumni, compared to 600,000 for Purdue.

UConn has a $594 million endowment, which is lower than any P5 school except for UCF. Purdue has a $3.6 billion endowment.

Purdue football was historically far more successful than it's been the past 20 years. They've won almost as many Big Ten championships as Michigan State or Iowa (8 for Purdue, 9 for MSU, 11 for Iowa).

Purdue has had more QBs start in the NFL than any other program. They've had 18 CFB Hall-of-Famers, 21 consensus All-Americans, and 4 NFL Hall-of-Famers.

Exactly, and congrats to your Huskies on a dominating tournament performance. I was hoping to see a rematch of our game in December, but alas.

Why people hate UConn on this board is beyond me. Their football program is not hampering their basketball success, yet trolls still say "drop football!" Stupid.

In addition, not only does Purdue have a seat at the table, they created the table. They hosted the founding meeting of the Western Conference, now the B1G.

It's not a puzzler to the Dazzler, my good man. The haters are simply jealous. They are jealous of UConn men's and women's basketball success. In addition, they would like to see their schools have a certain flexibility (like UConn has, in its case, with Big East membership and football independence) or feel UConn has gotten lucky (like Notre Dame with its ACC arrangement) and they resent that for some odd reason.

As a Memphis fan, I would like for Memphis to have a UConn deal (specifically, all sports but football in the Big East and football indy). But I'm not going to hate UConn because it has that arrangement and Memphis doesn't — and won't. That would be petty and negative. Good for UConn for being able to land such a deal.

UConn took a lot of crap for going Indy in football a few years back. It’s absolutely turned out to be a smart move on their part.

UConn's most successful football season resulted in a $1.6M loss for the Athletic Department.

UConn Football is a detriment to the Athletic Department.

Stay in the Big East and Drop Football.

UConn struggled in the AAC, eventually the football money will entice UConn to leave the Big East and repeat the mistake of being in a conference with a National Footprint.

21st Century Women's Basketball Championships:

UConn: 9 (or 10 if you count 2000 itsellf)
South Carolina: 3
Baylor: 3
Tennessee: 2

Why is South Carolina the team of the 21st century in Women's basketball when they have 1/3 the championships? That's some extreme recency bias I'm assuming, since all 3 of South Carolina's have come since 2017.

All your ranting and raving about Connecticut's "detrimental" football program has me convinced Civil conFLiCT really is a living, breathing thing.

Despite your mascot trying to downplay tradition, Yormark needs to reinstate the annual series when UConn joins the Big XII alongside bitter rival UCF because it's good for College Football

See that's what I'm talking about.

UConn's bread and butter is Regional Basketball in the Northeast. Why take them out of the Big East where they are thriving?

Disband the Football team and secure the future of UConn Athletics.

That's from 2011. Are you familiar with costs being offset? Almost every athletic dept loses money. Why you so mad?

Regional? They just won back to back national championships. They should just keep doing what they're doing. It's not like they could have won multiple national championship games this year.
