In the 21 century it probably goes
1. UConn
2. UNC
3-4. Kansas + Duke

Mighty big gap between No. 1 and whoever's next.
None of those other programs had anything close to this two-year run

RE: UCONN is the team of the 21st Century
6 championships under 3 coaches in 25 years, all in an era of conference realignment, one where most schools are investing in basketball, and when it is tougher to win six straight games to win the tournament. UConn hit a tough transition phase in the middle of all of this, too, before moving back to the Big East.
I was very young at the end of the UCLA dynasty, so I barely remember them. To me, what UConn is doing in the modern era is more impressive.

Congrats shizzle787 on the back-to-back national championship and the 6 he’s enjoyed.

There are only a handful of programs in ANY sport that match what UCLA did.
Texas swimming, one of the best, didn't quite match that. 15 1sts and 13 2nds in the last 44 years, all under Eddie Reese. Best stretch was 6 titles and 7 2nds in 14 years (2008-2022). Still doesn't compete with 10 out of 12 and a 3rd place by UCLA.
USC baseball 58-78 had 10 titles and a runnerup.
Now Arkansas men's outdoor track did have 12 in a row and 18 out of 23. That may be the only one quite like UCLA.

Roy had 3 NCs at UNC, after back-to-back FFs at Kansas. And Carolina lost a title game with Kansas in 2022, beating Duke in the semi-final.

I guess it's safe to say UConn is happy with its decision to leave the AAC and r
"return" to the Big East. It was just what the Basketball program needed. It makes you wonder if UConn would even accept an invite to the ACC or Big 12 if they were offered.

They would because money, and the only thing better than winning games in college sports is raking in cash hand over fist that you can give yourself raises with.
I'm in no rush though, because this is more fun and I don't get a raise if they move.

Im wondering if the MAC realizes that bringing in UConn for football only wouldnt be a bad deal for them. They know they arent getting them to join for all sports but even just having the brand there for football could be beneficial.

I agree. I've kind of become a fringe UConn fan. I have no connection to the school but I respect their move back to their roots and their surpassing Duke and UNC.

They certainly seem to have figured out how to recruit and retain in this new world of college athletics. Kudos to them

I think it’s more that UConn is not interested than the other way around. They’ve been able to get multiple P5 home games scattered through the season each year.

As someone pointed out, that actually beats Coach K, who during his best time period won 5 titles in 25 seasons, between 1991 and 2015.
I mean, if you think about all of the seemingly-endless winning Coach K and Duke did during that time, to actually beat that, and with three different coaches, is remarkable.

Still think they should shut down their Football program and just commit to being a Basketball school.

No.
I still do not like them the least bit...but I agree with the title.
