It may be-
Michigan 3
Florida St 9
Kansas St 9
Loyola 11

on the left side of the bracket

then possible on the right side of the bracket
Villanova 1
Purdue 2
Kansas 1
Duke 2

just insane.

If that graphic TBS showed is correct...

More 11-seeds have reached the elite eight in the past than 9-seeds.

Four 9-seeds in the elite eight before tonight: 1979 Penn; 1981 Saint Joseph's; 1994 Boston College; 2013 Wichita State.

And two more tonight.

Since 1985- only 2 9 seeds played in the elite 8.
meanwhile 7 11 seeds have played in the elite 8.

so now it's a 8-4 lead since 1985.

I'm hoping like hell they win. Kansas State is ridiculously bland.

It's more difficult for 9-seeds because every 9-seed that has ever made the second round, except for Kansas State this year, had to beat a 1-seed to move on.

yeah no doubt. But what is so strange is there's been 8 8 seeds that have made the elite 8. So it's an 8-4 lead for the 8's over 9's now. What is bizarre about that is that they're 68-68 vs each other in rd 1 of the tourney.

Yeah 8-9 is such a terrible draw in the tournament. You've got by default an automatically tough first round game, and then you are playing potentially 1, 4, and 2 to get to the Elite 8. You're almost certainly going to need a heavy upset filled year like this one to get to the Final Four

If Syracuse beats Duke tomorrow, half the Elite 8 would be a 9 seed or an 11 seed.

Here's one: Kansas State will be the "home team" on Saturday by virtue of higher seed. How many times in the NCAA Tournament before this year has a 9 seed been the higher seed in a matchup once? Much less twice.

Yet another misleading stat. A 9 reaching the Sweet 16 is no different than an 8 doing the exact same.

looks like one time in history- there was a 9 vs 13 game. 2013- Wichita beat La Salle.

Wichita was the home team once.

Butler was an 8 but was the designated home team twice in 2011. Ditto for Rhode Island in 1998.

Potentially we could have 3 teams seeded 9 or higher in the Final Four. Problem is we're going to need Syracuse to beat Duke and likely Kansas to make that happen. I just don't see it as likely, but then again, what in this tournament has gone according to plan? Outside of the East Region I guess.

RE: 2018 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament DISCUSSION THREAD - **Sweet 16**
if we have FSU upset Michigan and Loyola wins- we would be guaranteed to have at worst the 2nd highest seed combo ever for the final 4 at 22....

the record is 2011- #3 Connecticut, #4 Kentucky, #8 Butler, #11 VCU-26
2nd is 2000- #1 Michigan State, #5 Florida, #8 North Carolina, #8 Wisconsin

so if we have 11 and 9 then 1 and 1 would make 22. If Syracuse advanced and FSU wins- no matter what this would be the highest seed combo ever.

And Bruce Weber - missing his best player and 3 more foul out - outcoaches John Calipari to play for the Final 4.
