1.  Wisconsin.  Second most obnoxious fans in the country.  Yes, they have hit their athletic glory in the past few years, but they are a traditional doormat.  Football and Basketball histories are among the worst in the Big 10.  Between 10-15 % of their football players have been arrested since 2000 ( the actual number is approaching 30).  Second on the major rules infraction list.

2.  ND.  Most obnoxious fans.  Although, since I am in Wisconsin, there are less of them than UW fans, so I moved them down to second.

3.  Remaining CUSA schools.  They don't appreciate the obvious, that the conference is horrible.  Yes, some of the schools have history, but few have a present.  The CFL outdraws CUSA.  The league members have some kind of bond that causes them to go on jealous rampages about the BE.  The best part about MU joining the BE, is leaving CUSA.  I pray that MU will never ever be subjected to going to Hattiesburg again.

4.  Xavier, Dayton and SLU.  Don't like them.  Don't really know why.  Maybe I still pissed the Marquette joined the crappy MCC with these schools putting them in a hole that they haven't pulled themselves out of.  That said, I don't feel the same about Detroit or Loyola, too other MCC schools.

5.  Illinois.  One decent run in 15 years doesn't make you Duke.  As I pointed out in point 4, MU is still not where it was, even after a final four run.  Illinois has never even approached MU's prior level.  BTW, no one really wants to live in central Illinois.

Like

1.  Anyone playing Wisconsin

2.  Anyone playing ND

3.  Iowa and Iowa State.  Spent time in Iowa

4.  Vanderbilt.  Went there for a year.

5.  Underdogs.  Except for CUSA teams (Although, I don't have the animosity towards the new schools with the exception of maybe Marshall.  Boy, their fans seem over the edge.) I like cheering for teams in the minor conferences.
I understand CUSA's anger and jealousy. They were sitting there fat, dumb, and happy as a very good BB conference (somewhere in the top 5-6) and probably the 7th best FB conference. When all of a sudden they got team raped.

Now their basketball conference is on the A-10/CAA level and FB is #8.

Some of the 1-AAAs should step up. However, since MU has more conference championships than every team it left behind in CUSA, what's your point? (5 more conference championships and 13 more tourney championships than e.g. Memphis) Ahhh, I guess you don't like the fact that MU doesn't play football? Well, Memphis doesn't offer every sport either. And, by looking at the CUSA championship history, it looks like Memphis doesn't play the ones it offers very well either. BTW, even though it hasn't played football in almost 50 years, at least MU played in a major bowl game, (the Cotton) something Memphis is trying to do.

Now, if you want to discuss whether MU should play football, I think they should. I can't say the same for all D-1s. I think it would be very hard for some small schools with very high tuition rates to make football economically viable. However, in less expensive sports, they compete and win at the D-1 level. Milwaukee is the largest metro area in the country without either an NFL team or a D-1 team. I think San Antonio is the only one close. Further, Wisconsin is a football crazy state. MU's problem is there is no stadium in Milwaukee. Miller Park is too small for football. The next largest stadium seats less the 7000. In additon, since tuition and room & board costs around $35,000 at MU and their are no public funds available to a private university, the costs associated with starting a program are extrememly high.

hey MU88, did a memphis alum kill your dog? calm down man, its just a message board.
anyway, back to the program..

5 TEAMS I LIKE

[B]1. Kansas[B]- I went to school there for a year. awesome campus, awesome fans. no better college sports enviroment than a KU basketball game at Allen Fieldhouse.

[B]2. Mississippi State[B]- Other than Jackie Sherill, ive always thought they were very classy. i always root for them if they arent playing my tigers. and yes, they are MY tigers.

[B]3. Florida[B]- Anyone who hates the Volunteers as much as we do, they are my friends.

[B]4. Oregon State[B]- Weird choice for a southerner, but ive always liked them. my older brother's best friend was an oregon transplant in memphis. his mom worked for nike. anyway, he was a huge beaver fan(no pun intended). just rubbed off on to me.

[B]5. THE University of Memphis[B]- I tried to put another team here, but i had to be a homer. i grew up on stories about win wilfong, larry finch, ronnie robinson, dave cassinelli, and have been watching since a little kid. ive have been lucky to see some great teams and players here. keith lee, andre turner, elliot perry, issac bruce, steve matthews, anfernee hardaway, lorernzen wright, russell copeland, danny wimprine, and DeAngelo. sorry, ill stop now.

5 TEAMS I HATE

[B]1. Mississippi-[B] I even hated the kids at my high school that were gonna go there. i had an aquaintance whose parents spent 12,000 a year on a private high school and they wouldnt let him go anywhere but Mississippi. i asked them why they spent so much on high school when they were going to send him that college. why not Vandy or Tulane? they said, "because that is what we do." never a whole lot of reason behind anything Mississippi does. with that said, i always love the U of M/ U of M games.

[B]2. Tennessee-[B] I was born hating the color orange. cant stand it never will.

[B]3. Texas-[B] Never really cared one way or another about Texas till i moved down here. wow, their fans are a little off-kilter. not all of them, but a good enough percentage to be thoroughly repulsive.

[B]4. Louisville-[B] dont really hate them as much as i love to root against them. its fun. you big east fans should try it some time. it's like rooting against the yankees. you do it not because you dislike the team, but rather you know their fans are writhing in pain after a loss. as jack eaton(fmr. voice of the tigers) once said, " if lousiville was playing soviet russia, id root for russia."

[B]5. The Big 10-[B] I just can't stand the Big 10. Nothing personal, it just a southern football bias.

anyway, have a good day folks.
