Uh, a couple of points of reality for all of you "reality seekers" above.
First, the BCS isn't an organization needing any kind of vote or "voting majority" of Div. 1A schools. It is simply a contractual arrangement (now) between 4 bowls, 2 TV networks, and the 11 Div. 1A conferences. The criteria to be set for conference auto bid status (both gaining and losing it) aren't subject to any kind of vote of individual schools. No part of the contractual arrangement is voted on. If 5 conferences have auto bids, and 6 conferences have to meet the top 12/top 16 finish rule for their champion, that's just the way it is. There's no voting majority or other vote mechanism.
Second, can anyone show me where the Big East will get to count the 2004 BCS ranking of Louisville in determining whether it continues to meet BCS criteria? The literal language of the BCS criteria itself seems to clearly say otherwise.

It's been posted on here before, but i'm not searching for it. Look a couple pages back and you'll run across it.
Louisville's BCS ranking WILL count towards the Big East.

The Big East can count the Louisville BCS ranking for BCS Autobid purposes if any reeval comes up in 2007. BTW if Texas could beat Oklahoma just once in my lifetime then you would not be bitching about being left out.
BTW Michigan is 14th in the BCS rankings and they are going to the Rose Bowl. Will you ***** and moan if Colorado beats Oklahoma or Tennessee beats Auburn. You will still be left out.

It's not the NCAA's decision to make.
The BCS is between the 6 BCS conferences, their bowls, and whatever network ponies up the money to televise it.
And as for poor lil Texas. As someone said, you had your BCS spot in your own power, you just had to win.

The part where UL will count against BE's ranking for BCS this year was mentioned during an interview by the BCS commish Kevin something from the B12. Anyway, it is pointless arguing with all those haters. As far as I am concerned, UL, UC and USF are already in the BE and BC is in the ACC.

Actually, try win a bowl game before you *****. Texas is the most overrated team in the NCAA. They suck when it comes to big games. When was the last time they won a big game? B12 blows this year yet no one is bitching at that. The only reason is because they got OU. After that, who else you got? How many squeakers against crappy teams did Texas get by this year? WIthout ref's help, you would have lost that Kansas game for sure.

Do you people actually think the BE is still a good football conference? What makes it good. It is a collection of mediocre to slightly above average teams. For most of these teams if they played in a conference like the ACC or SEC or Big 12 they would be lucky to finish any better than 7-4 or 6-5.

If the BCS strips the Big East of their BCS bid then the non-BCS would have the majority rule. Get it Einstein?
What's the problem with that? That might help make it so the actual best teams make it to the top bowl games intead of picking teams based on conference affiliation. When you do stuff like that that's how you end up with a crappy team like Pittsburgh in a BCS bowl game.
If you gave more at large bids you would get better teams in the bowl games. That equals better football. Get it Einstein?

You can cry and ***** all you want; the fact of the matter is that Texas wasn't able to do what they needed to do. Remember there is always next year.
I think its ironic that even the fans of BCS conferences are pissed off with the system.

The Texas fan has a short memory. Recall that during the 90's texas sent a 7-4 team to the Fiesta Bowl to be blown out by Penn State. the only fair way to run these big bowls would be to simply do away with auto bids and take the top 8 teams ...period.

How does the top 8 teams being fair?
In some years due to strength of schedule you will 3 or 4 from one conference maybe just two conferences have all the top 8 spots.
Now what?
:D

Then what is fair if you don't take the top 8. Is it fair to leave out a 10-1 Louisville team and take 8-3 Pitt?

Good Point - Continue to use the BCS ranking system but eliminate the automatic bids.
Bowl games at this point might look like:
Orange - USC vs. Oklahoma
Rose - CAL vs. Auburn
Sugar - Georgia - Boise ST
Fiesta - Texas vs. Utah
If a playoff is really necessary, add one more game after the bowl games have been played. This should be enough to determine a true champion.

me too. all of these tie-ins, down to the 8th place 6-5 team, make no sense.
