It's hard for me to pick a side without knowing why he is leaving. Maybe a coach at one of the restricted schools was trying to get him to transfer. Hard to criticize or develope an opinion without knowing any facts.

Without a doubt, the most encouraging thing I read in the article: "Reached Friday, Tiger athletic director R.C. Johnson declined comment on the situation."

In fact, I would say he's more motivated to do so now than if he had just been let go with BE restrictions only (which makes sense to everyone).
He may be more motivated to do so, but won't be at a school that matters to our W-L record. I doubt teams will seek out a former player on another team to get insight on us.

The most shocking thing to me was that he was "reached". I'm surprised he's doing anything in his last 3 weeks.

RE: Good luck, Taylor, you will be missed.
My initial logical response after seeing this first this morning is that the Mississippi restriction is due to two things, one, we play them this year and he could give a detailed scouting report on our offense and , maybe more importantly , I think Fuente is sending a message to Ole Miss and any other BCS team that a change is occurring at the University of Memphis and you aren't going to be allowed to just come in our program any more and pick players and sell them the "dream" of playing "SEC football" or any other BCS league. I get the feeling that the second reason is the most important to Fuente and to our program mentality. JMHO

Is this 2016? Where did the last 4 years go? Do we still suck? When, during the 2012 season, did we fire Hugh Freeze?

he can still go to miami, maybe ryan williams will save him a seat next to him on the pine.
he cant play for about 30 teams out of literally hundreds....cry me a river.
Exactly but I think there are only about 120 FBS schools so I suppose he's down to 75-80% of those that he can transfer to.
Again, I don't think he's being asked to leave. I think he's leaving because he's not going to be the #1 qb next season.
That's pretty much my point. I have never seen a kid have a list upwards of 30 schools on the 'restricted list.'

We're in a weird situation with regard to conference affiliation, and we're talking about 14+ team conferences. It's not that shocking.

Unfortunately, that's a function of having two conferences to protect yourself from.

My bad. I thought someone mentioned us playing them this year. LOL
Well, my second point was the main one, anyways. LOL

I understand, but really now? How different is the 2012 Memphis offense going to be from TCU's? Won't opposing coaches preparing for the first couple games probably watch more TCU film than 2011 Memphis film?

Maybe FU expects to play "old piss" in a bowl this year?
Anyways it will all be forgotten mid way through the season.
I hope!

Actually, that would be a mistake. Coach Fuente has stated on multiple occasions that we can not run that offense at this point, but will have to run a similar but decidedly different set of plays with the talent we have. That's one of the promising things I liked from his comments in the spring. He said the talent level directs the scheme. You can't out-scheme your abilities.
So while we will try to build the talent level and depth to allow for the same type of high energy, fast striking offenses seen recently at TCU, we will be limited in that capacity until we actually get that level and depth of talent. And we don't need the ever-loyal Taylor Reed telling opposing DCs what we will be running depending on formation, placement, and personnel. Let them figure that stuff out on their own withouot the answer key.
Also, as said before, Memphis is no longer going to be a stepping stone for qbs and other personnel to "get a look" and then jump to a more high profile program, while we start a third or fourth freshman qb in a row. Enough is enough. You sign here, you damn well better be prepared to stick around a few years.
