What's the won-lost record of gay marriage in statewide elections? 0 and 40?

Two ran under the GOP banner this cycle: Gary Johnson, Ron Paul.
Both would DESTROY Barry. Both have proven that if they can get past the primary, they do MUCH MUCH better in the general election.
I said win the party's nomination and win the election. Neither of these two got close to winning the party nomination. Who would you have picked that can do both?
There's nobody who can do both. By the time you get through pandering to the religious right to get the nomination, you are unelectable in the general. Women and young people beat Romney tonight, and those are demographics that will kill the republican party.
But if you go prochoice then you will never, never, win an election as a republican.

The only reason why they didn't win the nomination was because the establishment Republicans took it upon themselves to alienate Paul and all of his supporters. That could very well be the difference there.
Establishment Republicans = Needed to win the Republican Nomination. Who? Where's the next Reagan?

BTW ....... for every Republican who heard the message of liberty and voted against it ......... and especially for everybody in GOP leadership who went out of their way to disparage, marginalize, mock, deride, smear, and discredit Ron Paul and the liberty movement ...... TOLD YOU THAT YOU WOULDN'T WIN WITHOUT US. Gary Johnson's vote total is larger than Mittens margin of defeat right now in Ohio, Florida, and Virginia. (haha, f*ck you)

Leave God out of government policy altogether and you have healed a big chunk of what is wrong with the GOP. *cough* Akin *cough* Mourdock *cough*
Wrong take God out and this is what you have, a messed up world.
Alabama just re-elected Roy Moore Chief Justice of the State Supreme Court. He's a zealot and a fool. I wouldn't care that he's a religious fella if he'd remember it ain't his job to dictate it to me.
This is another problem. The Atheist and those that hate Christianity should stop dictating their agenda and philosophy and I am sure the same would happen elsewhere. The fact that Christianity is under attack shows that those in this country who hate Christianity are trying to dictate their beliefs on all. Funny how Christianity is hated so much, but other religions are not.

I disagree it was not based on *EITHER*. It was based on people living their own lives with as little governmental interference as possible.

I don't hate Christians. I am one. Guys like Roy Moore are worried about my soul. Let me do that. You just do your job, and quit alienating people who don't march in lockstep with you.

And that is true nationally. In the West he pulls much more heavily from Dems than GOP (particularly in states like Oregon, California, and California). The east is a different story.

Yeap, they should have never alienated Ron Paul and his supporters. Oh and it now looks like Obama will probably win VA. He is up 40,000 votes with about 95% of the vote in.

The people of western Pennsylvania have to be the stupidest people alive. Talk about voting against your interests.
Hey, coal miners. This president has said in so many words he's going to destroy your livelihood.

It just shows the letter beside the name overrules common sense far too often.

GOP needs to move past the social issues to have a chance. It's only going to get worse for them. I'm all for you going the way of the third party if you want. At this rate that's where the GOP is headed, just look at the demographics.

Couldn't hard line pro lifers form a third party then? Best of both worlds.
