Lol...you ain't got a clue. We have enough fans. When we do well, we sell out all home games. UTEP though should not be ragging on anyone. It's ok, you guys can finally win a few games when we leave
Can we just not argue with UTEP fans please? Give them crap like this and they start parading their 'attendance trophy'.
Doesn't "pulling in a market" mean that the market cares enought to watch on TV, or attend the game?
You're right about parading the attendance trophy. But you also forgot about:
- 52,000 stadium trophy, and
- bball attendance trophy, and
- bball national championship trophy

Miner, you are wasting your time. No sense arguing your point when people won't listen despite the facts from their home town newspaper.
You don't have a reliable fan base when you only show up for a Big 12 Texas school or you are undefeated. You build a fan base by showing up despite the product on the field or the opponent.

Weren't Houston, Cincinnati and Connecticut on the "most valuable" or "best" Non-BCS schools left on the board along with BYU not too long back?
Maybe that has something to do with it.

Valuable enough to be on the best of the rest list but not valuable enough to be included in a power 4 conference. I feel bad for a school like ECU who puts 50K in the stands regardless of the opponent over a school that relies on a TV market that doesn't exist.

Thanks for pointing out something nobody asked or said. You're the most obsessive North Texas State Tech person I've ever seen on the internet Of course you're the only one I know, but that's not the point!
I know what it is, you're sorta like the Tallgrass for NTSUTech/Big XII country.

Jml has a permanent hard on anything UH. I would work on getting respect in the big 12 before bashing other schools. Lol...what a joke

Yes you have a 52K stadium.
Yes you beat us in basketball attendance.
Yes UTEP won a NCAA tournament.
Doesn't change the fact that whenever UH is brought up some of your fans parade your football attendance as a reason as to why you're better- for one reason or another.

RE: ESPN nbe deal needs UConn, UC, UH, Temple
All this really means is that if one of those Group A schools leaves, the TV deal is done. That makes sense to me because in all likelihood, if one of those schools leave, the conference is toast anyway. I'm not really seeing a scenario where only one school moves around at this point. Either the B1G is holding at 14 and the XII-ACC alliance is enough to hold both conferences together, or the ACC gets raided by the B1G, SEC, and XII and the C-TBA is raided to backfill the ACC. This little extra detail just makes me think the TV deal is only a short-term effort anyway.

LOL. Quite a few Red Raiders, including myself, are looking forward to attending the Houston-UC game in November. We hope you coogs open a TEXAS sized can on Tommy and his wimpcats.
As for respect, we have it and we are getting paid. When A&M held the rest of the conference ransom, we didn't have give money up to keep the left behind schools happy.

Lets see how they do when they are being telecast on ESPN, ABC, and Fox Sports-1. My guess is they will be fine. Theres no doubt Houston is not where we should be given the population surrounding the school, however, it appears the school is on the right track and has been building thier attendence numbers for the last decade under extremely difficult conditions. With a new conference offering slightly better opponents and significantly better exposure, along with help from a new stadium, I suspect the attendance numbers will make nice strides over the next 5 years. Frankly, just being on the same networks as the Big-12 teams is likley to help significantly both in recruiting and building a larger fan base. One step at time folks. Rome wasnt built in a day.

I hope the Houston Chronicle continues reporting college football TV ratings in the fall.

I used to think you were a troll. Now I know that you're not a troll. In fact, you are a Tech fan who is bating a small fanbase into trolling themselves. I would say that you're interesting but you're not fun to have on the board.

I'm pretty happy that the 2 schools in this league I'd like ECU to be tied with long term (UCF and USF) are in group B as well.

OK, it doesn't sound like this is all that big a deal.
I just reviewed the old CUSA ESPN TV contract. It had a termination clause in it, too. Under that contract, if CUSA got below 10 members, ESPN had the right to terminate that deal. So in reality, this revelation about the C-TBA TV contract is a bunch of nothing.

The membership numbers falling to a certain level is not unexpected in a contract. What I think is bad for the conference is the creation of groups A and B. Totally unneccesary and Aresco should have insisted on removing that. All espn had to do was say that if the conference loses members we will revisit the contract and have the right to terminate/renegotiate anytime members are lost. That covers it. No need to place schools in this kind of light. Total bs.

NBC did it, not ESPN. I think they just weren't interested without those schools. ESPN could just put them in worse time slots. NBC is trying to fill some important slots. ESPN probably wouldn't have done it that way, but they were in a match the NBC contract or not scenario.

Family from Alvin, so yes I do have a clue... You're right, UTEP has no room to talk when it comes to performance, I was just stating that Houston does not pull in their market even though they've had good teams... 2009 Houston went 10-4 and averaged 25k
