RE: ND and NBC extend through 2025.
This is new -- apparently, when the contract extension kicks in, at least a few of the ND football games will be on NBCSN rather than NBC:
Quote:Per the extension, which begins with the 2016 season, the NBC Sports Group retains global media rights on all platforms to a minimum of seven Notre Dame home football games per year, with the vast majority airing on NBC. It also allows for games to air on NBC Sports Network.

What's the latest theory on how this will destroy the ACC save UConn?

RE: ND and NBC extend through 2025.
Yeah, at least one ND game will be moved to NBC Sports. That network will also televise all home ND hockey games.
NBC Sports is looking for content. I believe the previous contract allowed for this as well (it just never happened).
Another new thing in this deal is the length of the contract. It is for ten years, until 2025. All other ND/NBC deals were five year terms.
Isn't 2025 when the ACC contract and the Big 12 GOR both expire?

Also eliminates the rumored "6th ACC game".

The word was that ND had shot that one down some time ago. This makes it official.

I don't see that happening. I'm resigned to our fate.

I don't see how one has to do with the other at all. Six games can be worked into this just as easily as 5 can.

From the NBC press release:
"Per the extension, which begins with the 2016 season, the NBC Sports Group retains global media rights on all platforms to a minimum of seven Notre Dame home football games per year, with the vast majority airing on NBC. It also allows for games to air on NBC Sports Network. As it has since 2009, NBC Sports Digital will continue to live stream Fighting Irish home games."
I think that this is the language he was talking about. One of those "home games" may still be a barnstorming, "neutral site", Shamrock Series ND "home game" at places like Dallas, New York City, etc..
I suppose that six ACC games per year can arguably fit into that context, but NBC will televise seven ND games per season until 2025.

Changing from 3 home games w/ ACC every other year to three home games with ACC every year wouldn't change the total of 7 home games.

Yeah, I guess your right! I just like the "Texas joining the ACC" rumor with the same deal as ND. 4 games from each and 1 game against each other. That would give the ACC an 8 game schedule with Texas/ND each year and if you include an SEC partnership, one hell-of-a lineup!

Why would the ACC count a game btwn Texas and Notre Dame as one of their own? The ACC would net 3 games in that scenario. There would be no way they go for that.

This shouldn't be a surprise. I believe the ACC knew their chances were slim in getting ND as a full-member. However, it raises the question whether or not the ACC (with the ACC Network) should pick up two more schools for football. I wouldn't mind it if it creates more revenue per each school.

RE: ND and NBC extend through 2025.
I don't see how this reads as "this destroys the 6-game ACC" possibility -- the press release read "minimum of 7 home games", but no where in the language did it limit the number of "ACC" games.
If both parties are interested at some point in the next 3-7 years (or so), they an agree to add a game, making it an even 3 ND home games vs. ACC schools and 3 road games vs. ACC schools. You know, somewhere around the next ACC contract "look-in" (2017).
Reading is fundamental around these parts -- don't allow your hatred of the ACC ruin that basic tenet. Thanks :)
