On another note, my February vacation budget just got a bit bigger,

don't know why Marshall fans would be surprised if this happens since Doc recruits Florida heavily

It's not the destination. It's the opponent's conference. Everyone has knocked all year that we haven't played a P5. We have one lined up waiting for us in a destination city in the historic Cotton Bowl. Instead we play another MAC team, this time one we have no real history with.

This is the rumor, but as of right now, I am hearing that The Go Daddy will not release NIU to play the game. They've lost the MAC Champ the last two years, and don't want to lose a third in a row. ESPN will have to step in if NIU is to go to Boca.

I told you all a week ago, the conference wants ticket sales. No offense, but I don't think MU sells a ton of tickets to HoD at this point.

This isn't like the Liberty Bowl, where the champ automatically goes to that particular bowl. BB can pretty much put teams where he wants.

Marshall deserves to go to the best bowl. And if the champion supposedly have their choice then it should be a non-issue. I fully understand why Marshall wouldn't be excited about playing the MAC Champ. I am pretty sure Marshall will end up in Dallas.

You absolutely take a matchup with Northern Illinois if you're Marshall. Illinois/Rutgers/Maryland are P5 in name only. Beating a bottom-feeder Big 10 team does nothing for the perception of any team in our conference.

Can create a situation where C-USA can be 5-0 in the bowl season while taking out the MAC champ, B1G in Dallas, and two MWC opponents in New Mexico and Hawaii. Still an outside shot at top G5 after the bowls?

Rutgers is probably better than NIU this year

It's remote for us to overtake the AAC for #1. Despite our 16-4 record, the computers favored the AAC due to a few of those P5 wins. The computers also didn't like our west champion losing to a I-AA school. Looks like we can finish second at best.

I haven't seen anything official that the champ decides anything. I feel like it is more of an assumption, but could be wrong.
