Hose is what Scots call their long socks for kilt wearing.

I'll go 38-20 MT, we put up a good fight for 3 quarters and then the depth chart starts to catch up with us.

Even if MT starts dominating, I'd still watch the entire game. With us last season they played fast and towards the end, they started getting tired and we were within 10. If there was more time left or if we found ourselves sooner the loss merge would have been smaller or we would have won. And that's with only one FBS recruiting class. I can't wait til we get 4.

You seriously believe that?
We came out in the second half and basically played cover 4 prevent style defense the entire half, giving Heineke all the underneath stuff he wanted. And frankly that was smart. No sense taking chances and letting him truly get ODU back in the game essentially by himself with big pass plays. If anything was going to get any further run down by the game being extended it would have been your defense who we pretty much plowed all night on the ground. If it would have went longer we could have named the score, so your statement is a little silly. Sure, it will be different in a few years but last year there wasn't anything you were going to do to prevent the outcome.

RE: Charlotte at Middle Tennessee Game Thread
A couple of quick questions from a first time visitor to Murfreesboro.
I heard that the Ag lot is the designated visitors lot, but having a little trouble locating it on the map. Is it the $5 lot just the SW of the lot adjacent to the soccer field? Would the soccer field lot be a decent place to set up for visitors?
http://www.goblueraiders.com/sports/2014...spx?id=100
Also the interwebs say that traffic gets a little rough in town on game-day. Is there a decent restaurant that's easy to get to near the stadium where I can grab some tailgating fare? Something like some BBQ or wings? Prefer local spots to chains if that's possible.
I'm really looking forward to this weekend, I'm a native Tennessean and have a ton of respect for your program. Charlotte's exceeded expectations through the first two games, if we can do that again and keep it close then well....then it'll be game on the rest of the year
My pick for the score is 27-13 MT, and I will be very happy if we are able to keep it that close.

The smaller lot next to the soccer field fills up fast and the larger lot next to the building that says TLC (Ag Bldg) is available for visitors. You can always try to find your own spot somewhere on campus too. Lots of places to park and have some grass under your feet - if you get there early.
If you are looking for BBQ and wings Slick Pig just on the other side of campus is a local favorite by many. The Boulevard Bar & Grill is also on the same Main St which is a popular gameday place and there will be a lot of Raider fans there. Given I don't live there now I will let others chime in on the latest and greatest.

Either of the $5 lots in red would be fine to set up. As far as a pregame meal, the Boulevard is located right next to campus and has great food and drinks. Toot's is also a legendary Murfreesboro spot with good wings and bar food. Make sure to hit the one on Broad St, as it is the original location. If you are really craving BBQ, hit up Slick Pig BBQ right next to campus. Great smoked wings. If you are simply picking up food, I'd recommend calling ahead for Toot's or Slick Pig.
Boulevard Bar and Grill
Toots - Broad St
If you want to see what the MT tailgating looks like and have a couple cold brews with our fans, make sure to stop by the Greenland lot (the BRAA reserved/General Public $10 lot on the map) to check out RV Row. Also check out the Grove (Walnut Grove in light green south of the stadium), which is where the student tailgating as well as many of the younger, never-want-to-leave-the-Grove types set up. It's a great spot. The Grove also hosts the Raider Walk and has several things going on throughout the day.

Glad you will be able to make it.
The red lots on the GBR map located near the soccer field (above/around what is labelled as TLC - the livestock center) would probably be your best bet. The Greenland lot (purple) seems to always fill up so keep that in mind. The one by the soccer field seems best to me. There are a few good spots for BBQ or wings in town. Slick Pig BBQ located on East Main is always a good bet (probably my personal first choice) and there's also a good spot at Whitt's BBQ but that's at the corner of Northfield and Memorial so it's a bit farther away. If you're interested in getting a wider selection, The Boulevard on the corner of Main and Middle TN has a great array of choices. They have amazing sandwiches and IIRC you can transfer a sandwich into "wrap" form. Very delicious food.
Traffic shouldn't be too much worse than usual on game day but then again this is Murfreesboro and traffic is generally just awful. Since the game is at 6pm, do NOT plan to head to the stadium any later than 4:30pm. You will encounter terrible traffic if you do. The best way to get to MTSU would probably be on Middle Tennessee Blvd from Exit 80 on I-24 (Hwy 99 / New Salem). Parking by the Livestock Center / soccer field will be easiest if you turn on to Greenland and get into the left lane until you pass the Greenland arena area lot. I know many of us on CSNbbs and on BlueRaiderZone do tailgate in the Greenland lot, so maybe if you put out a call to folks here you might get some takers and visit with folks. Anyway, hope this helps and enjoy your visit to Murfreesboro! Looking forward to seeing the team back in action... and hopefully winning big! Go Blue Raiders!

MT fans, what kind of offense and defensive systems do you guys run?
Charlotte is a fast-paced, spread offense that prefers to run the ball if possible. Defensively, we'll jump from 3-4 and mix in some 4-3 fronts, we're much more aggressive this year in attacking with blitzes than our first 2 years (new DC).

Nix typically runs 4-2-5 defense against spread offenses. He has been using a lot of boss blitzes in the last couple of games.

RE: Charlotte at Middle Tennessee Game Thread
Charlotte loses this game by 3-4 TDs, but I feel it will be a good game to see where we really are as a team. As for right now, I couldn't be any happier with the progress from last year. Our defense is much improved and if we can get things going on the ground early, look for Austin Duke to have a good game at WR.
Glad to see you guys interested in our program and not just the "you guys are gonna suck, you guys aren't ready for this, why are you in CUSA or the your stadium is tiny" comments. Been a fun journey for us fans so far and we're just getting started. Can't wait to host Marshall on Halloween. If Marshall splaying like they did this past weekend, that may actually be a competitive game

RE: Charlotte at Middle Tennessee Game Thread
I am very interested to see how we stack up against the Blue Raiders. Charlotte has redshirted a lot of players over the first 2 seasons and I think we are finally seeing all of our best talent on the field at the same time.
Will it be enough to pull out a win? I don't think so. I think MT wins 28-13.
After seeing the performance of CUSA this past week, however, I do think we have a chance to win some conference games this year. The offense will need to find its rhythm to pull that off, though.
This will be the first game of the season that I will not be attending, but I hope to make a trip to Murfreesboro in the coming years.

We're excited to welcome the 49er's to the Boro!
I don't see our offense being limited to only 4 td's. Unless we turn the ball over like we did against BAMA, I think MT scores at least 42 pts.

Our d has looked good so far. We made GSU look bad on offense and then they blew up nmsus defense. We also held presbyterian to 9 yards passing and less than 30 on the ground until the starters went out. Not saying it won't happen, but I don't think you score 42+.

None of those teams mentioned in your post are in our stratosphere. (Now there's some smack)
Here are some cherry picked numbers to chew on. Last 7 CUSA conference games at home, MT has scored the following on offense: 35, 34, 37, 50, 48, 48, 51. I think most MT fans would agree our offense this year looks like it could be better than the last two. We'll see.

RE: Charlotte at Middle Tennessee Game Thread
Our starting D looked phenomenal against bad teams so far.
It doesn't matter how bad a team is, though... only giving up 111 yards in a game is damned impressive. Considering that almost 75% of those yards came on the ground against the reserves is even more impressive.
Our D keeps us in this one, but eventually depth and experience wins out.
MT 34, Charlotte 27
(and yes... this is some damned good stuff. Anybody want some?)
