So it's looking like Swans vs Spurs. Oh well, nice while it lasted.

We've barely beat Rochdale and Newport. Yall can beat us at home.

Well, I'm not sure of the Spurs lineups for either match but your just destroyed Rochdale so............However, I don't think the Swans sent out the A team each match so the Spurs probably didn't either. I imagine that will change though when they face another PL side.

Let me rephrase....we went to replay with both of those teams.

As far as our lineup, it wasn't all first choice but it was fairly strong:

Lamela, Son, Sissoko, Rose, Lucas Moura, Dier and Trippier all played yesterday and could be considered first team-ish.

Even in the rest of the linuep only Foyth could be considered outside the usual squad. Harry Winks started against Real Madrid and Vorm is a seasoned international GK and was even the captain yesterday.

By the way, Lucas Moura and Sonny on the field at the same time is going to be a problem for a lot of teams the rest of the season.

Seattle has to overcome a 2-1 deficit at home to El Salvador's champs tomorrow. New York Red Bulls are 1-1 heading home to face the Honduran champs. Toronto knocked out Colorado in an all MLS affair already. They probably represent MLS best shot in years at winning the CCL, and will face Tigres of Mexico in the quarterfinals.

Its very possible that every American team will be knocked out of the Champions League in the round of 16. That's embarrassing.

Looks like the biggest La Liga match of the season so far this is this weekend with Barca vs Atletico Madrid. After drawing against Las Palmas yesterday (LP is damn near last in the league who said La Liga isn't competitive?) Barca is now only 5 points ahead of Atletico and could very well wind up only 2 points ahead by the end of the weekend.

I always feel like games at Las Palmas are complete crap-shoots because of the travel. With them playing on a short week that just further affected it...I think this game is going to be extremely fun to watch though. If Barca win, they've pretty much got La Liga sealed up since Atleti are really their only challengers.

Probably right about the distance. The first Barca/Las Palmas match this season was played in front of no fans which was weird. I agree this weekend may just decide the league. Too many draws for Barca and Atletico have been on fire. It's amazing to me that between the two teams they have only lost one league match this season.

Charlie Davies just announced his retirement today...and all of the promise we had in the early '10's came flooding back to me. The fact that he came back after the injuries sustained was something of a miracle, but he (and his impact on the USMNT) will remain as one of the premier what-ifs of US Soccer for me.

I'll never forget his goal at Azteca when it mattered. What could have been....03-pissed

Yes. I'm pretty sure I was thinking this at some point during the Arsenal game last month as well. I know I'm thrilled we have looked as good as we have since January 1, but it is incredibly frustrating that we can put up 17 points from 9 games and still be in the thick of a relegation battle because we were so god awful the first half of the season.

It's frustrating because we're certainly not going to win out. We've still got trips to both Manchester squads, Chelsea at home, and a slew of matches against relegation threatened teams. Hell one bad performance against Huddersfield next week completely undermines this week. On the other hand, another win next week and we will be in remarkably good shape heading into the FA Cup Quarterfinals and the International break.

Side note, spare a thought for West Ham. They were terrible today, and their remaining fixture list is horrifying. United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Leicester, Everton, and Burnley all included along with home relegation 6 pointers against Stoke and Southampton. They are far from safe right now.

Well they’ll get 3 points from Everton so there is that...

What the hell is going on with you guys? Every time I think you are about to start a run to get back up to 7th, you fall flat on your face like today.

Koeman was fired too early, Unsy wasn’t given until the end of the season, and the trifecta ended with Big Scam getting his gravy covered fingers on our club and refuses to play any player without EPL experience.

This CCL match between New York Red Bulls and Tijuana is insane. First, we have the rare sighting of an MLS team up 2 goals on the road against a Liga MX side. Luis Robles is pulling a Tim Howard vs Belgium. In typical CONCACAF fashion, the ref has lost complete control of the match, and the Red Bulls are frantically trying to fake injuries to waste as much time as possible, and Tijana is not amused.

NYRB holds on for a 2-0 away win thanks to something like 15 saves by Robles. Both sides spent the last 2 minutes of stoppage time and the first couple minutes after the game in a shoving match. Fans threw beer at the NYRB players as they walked off

All in all, a typical road night in CONCACAF.

Saw this online and thought I'd share...

Quote:A Non League player called Sanchez Watt was shown a red card for dissent after the ref asked for his name - he repeatedly replied correctly "Watt. Watt. Watt." which the ref interpreted as "What? What? What?". The Red Card was then rescinded after the situation was explained to the ref.
