Is that right?

Quote:Football season is not here yet, but as it quickly approaches, the Boca Raton Public Library has decided to partner with Florida Atlantic University for a special promotion.

The library will be celebrating Love Libraries Day on Saturday, September 16 when the FAU Owls take on the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats.

September is Library Card Sign-Up Month, so in celebration, those who sign up for a new library card will be able to buy tickets to the September 16 game for only $5. Current Boca Raton Public Library cardholders will also be able to get the same rate.

Fcs is big difference from it being regularly done. And that's the first I've seen of it

The attendance smack is usually said when the opponent on the field isn't up to par with us in whatever sport

Congrats on baseball today

Your mistake was you took it as smack. I was truly wondering why with the Championship team you had last year, why there weren't more butts in the seats. Believe me, USM had an very large number of empty seats last year. It was hard to see. Hopefully your team will continue to win big and the fans will come to the games and I wish the same this year for USM.

The attendance went up a lot last year. Look it up We had 3-9 seasons 3 years in a row in a big market with tons of stuff to do and tons of transplants. Of course it will take more then 1 good season

It will happen. As a fan I know how frustrating it can be to have a team that deserves more fans in the seats cheering them on. I also know how it is to have a team that goes 12-2 one season playing in front of a packed stadium to a team to goes 0-12, 1-11 and 3-9 the next three seasons playing in front of a lot of empty seats.

At the CUSA level we don't have the luxury of having terrible seasons and keeping fans in the seats. Winning cures everything and I see a lot of wining coming up for FAU on the gridiron.

Fan bases are built. When FAU football started in 2000 it didn't just magically inherit the Miami, UF, and FSU fans that live in South Florida. We need to impress upon them that we are a viable option to be supported and, even then, lifelong connections are not dissolved. My second cousin was a big time Miami fan. He even followed the Miami players in the NFL. He still is a Mismi fan, even though he never went to school there. You just can't always count on getting fans like this to switch over.

It's not about winning over Miami fans. More about getting your alumni to care.

The alumni care. But if you compare to well established programs, you see that those have thousands of non-alumni in their fan base. Just like my Miami-fan cousin, who had never gone to school there.

Yep. Plus 100 more years of alumni who had football when in school helps too

Since FAU started a football program La Tech has 1 P5 win. Take your "you need marquee" victory for respect and shove it in your a**

Also for the 100th time, the attendance thing is old
1. FAU has 2-3k that will be every game not matter what.
2. I was really happy with attendance both the Navy and FIU (until it rained) were 95 percent full.
3. Student attendance was solid every game 3 games the student section was pretty much full and 2k-3k in the lower attended games.
The only game that really laked student was the conference champ because school was out.
4. We have only had undergrad since 1988 it takes time to build alumni and it's crazy hard to get people with no connection to the school here to go.
Those people are pulled in 10000 directions.
I'm happy if FAU can avg 20k next year.

Where'd you get that number? Since 2001 they have 6 P5 wins. Virginia, Mich St, OKState, Illinois (2), Ole Miss. Apologize if I missed others in my 30 seconds of research.

FAU could win a national title and USM and La Tech would still be throwing angry shade.

Like I said though I get it if i had to watch schools that I played with all move to bigger and better things i would be a salty ole fan as well.
