Weird. I emailed and was told the areas were on the grassy area “near the fountain”.

Was told pricing would be finalized in June.

Note: I enquired about executive spots only.

Approx. $40 per person. est. 20-25 total party.

The University's press release seems clear that it is on the lawn. Some opposing fan bases will love those locations.

Quote:Blockparty will provide Tiger fans the option to reserve a premium location on Tiger Lane Lawn with the purchase of a tailgate package. Current Tiger Lane spot holders will have the opportunity to upgrade their location with Blockparty's turnkey packages and service offerings.

Now we can have our very own overcrowded, elite-screaming, catered, grass-killing Grove. Whoopee! I look at a large lawn and feel expansive, tranquil. Developers/businessmen/moneymakers/PR departments look at it and see money-making, promotional opportunity.

I hate this. Why don't we just pave the damn lawn we have enjoyed and nurtured for some years? Damn marketing jerks. Yes, we need much better marketing but not this. This is not our thing, not our image, not our vibe. BAD MOVE, BOWEN.

I hate to burst your bubble, but this is nothing new. This company may be new, but the university has had multiple hospitality tents and corporate tents on Tiger Lane for a few years now.

Not at the these prices. You could donate $750 and get in those. This is $3k for spot and $?? For copying the Grove setup deal. Mostly elitist crowd.

Nope. There have been private corporate tents on TL the past few years. I’ve been in them. A law firm rented one last season for the Tulane game. It was a one game deal and they controlled the invitations.

So you don’t consider a law firm renting out a big tent as being elitist?

So you don’t consider a law firm renting out a big tent as being elitist?

1. The tent wasn’t that big.
2. I consider it smart and means of additional revenue for the university.

Do you think we should do away with suites at LBMS and FEF because you consider them elitist? Do you think the entire stadium should be general admission? Are you a communist?

Once again you are one of the few that get it. They will monetize every square inch. I've seen this happen before. Bad part is, if successful, the average fan doesn't get close but will get plenty of exercise hiking past all the corporate tents.

You think the university getting more money from football is bad?

Depends on how getting more $ is accomplished whether it’s ‘bad’or ‘good’. lol Errrbody knows that.

Football needs money.

Aresco turned out to be a milkshake duck. I thought he was supposed to be big-time negotiator who knew the ropes. Our teevee money sucks.

How much would we net by selling the grass off...What’s the projection?

A few corporate tents on Tiger Lane also draws prospective new fans to our games. There was an article in the CA a few years back about a local attorney with no ties to the school. He started a group to tailgate at Tiger games and they quickly grew from a handful to about 50.

There is PLENTY of room on the “great lawn” for a few corporate tents AND still have tons of open spaces for people to mingle and kids to throw footballs. Some folks will complain about anything.

I hope it works out. I've seen it go wrong. I guess we will find out.
