I thought I remembered hearing that BYU made something like $8 million
I thought it was $6, but according to the source I linked in a prior post it's only $4.5.

For Boise, this article says $2.9mm, but it's from 2017. BYU is $4.5 as referenced in the previous article. If Boise can double their TV revenue and have the best conference to allow them access to a NY6 bowl, they will do it. This TV negotiation is just so huge for the AAC in so many ways.

Let's hope we can get the maximum tv amount without the need to expand. I personally do not envy the conferences like the SEC and ACC who rarely see the opponents they share a conference with.

RE: Could our new contract prompt our expansion?
The $Money$ matters, but there is more to expansion than just the new contract. If we were to add any four: Boise, BYU, Air Froce, Colorado State, Fresno, or SDSU. We should be moving to monopolize the NY6 birth. Monopolize the NY6 birth and the that will Make us a de facto P6 after 5 years. More directly, we need to take every action to widen the gulf between us and the MWC, CUSA, MAC, and Sunbelt. Stealing Boise, CSU, SDSU, BYU etc will go along way to weakening the MWC(Sorry MWC). Also as stated earlier, gaining reasonable access to that 7, 7:30 Pacific Time slot should help access. People in Houston, Dallas, New Orleans, Tampa, Orlando and Memphis would be more likely to tune in to watch Memphis, UH, Tulane, USF, UCF and SMU after the big 12/Sec games are over.

That gap is already widening without spreading the conference too thin, across the entire country. The best way to speed that widening is not poaching more members, but having the already existing members pull their weight. Cinci and ECU need to get back with the program, and overall as a conference we just need to continue to improve in attendance, viewership, postseason access, and travelling. We don't need to steal anyone to do that.

We don't need to expand. Just show me the money and keep on keeping on. Let Boise rot on the MWC vine.

I get the hate for Boise but they are not just going away. They are the AAC's biggest obstacle to getting the NY6 every year because they are media darlings still and they have an easier route thru the MWC. I say if the money is right, add them as well as BYU and you are damaging the MWC as much as you are helping the AAC. I personally believe this would get us an automatic bid when the time comes.

Adding Boise State and BYU gives the AAC a foothold into talent-rich Utah and southwestern Idaho. Uh, never mind.

Adding BYU and Boise gives the AAC the two largest fan bases reasonably available.

San Deigo State averaged 28,619 in 2017 and has increased attendance 3 straight seasons
Boise State averaged 31,126 in 2017 and has decreased attendance 4 straight seasons
thats only a difference of 2,500 fans reported and I would argue that San Diego State given its fantastic market is a better futures bet that Boise State is at this point, especially with the Chargers no longer in the picture

Agreed. The Boise fan base isn't all that special, particularly considering how good they've been over the years.

Say it louder...I actually see Boise 2017 attendance 31,126 as above, but SanDiego State 2017 39,347. SDSU>BSU in 2016 also.

(SDSU in the rare situation of a G4 having attendance greater than all AAC teams. Boise would be seventh in the AAC)

SDSU is working through opposition to build a new campus and stadium on the site formerly known as Qualcomm Stadium. They are competing against an opposing bid to build a soccer complex.
City Council Approves Mission Valley Stadium Redevelopment Proposals For November Ballot
Quote:The San Diego City Council Monday will consider two citizen ballot initiatives to redevelop the Mission Valley stadium site.
The SDSU West proposal, backed by Friends of SDSU, calls for a new 35,000-seat Aztecs football stadium. It also envisions hotels, retail space, a river park and an academic campus to be shared with commercial office tenants.
The competing SoccerCity initiative to develop the Mission Valley site also proposes mixed-use spaces, as well as a 23,500-seat professional soccer stadium that could be expanded to accommodate Aztecs football.

Another thing people don't realize is we report turnstile counts, NOT tickets sold, as do most other schools. And...we have a small student turnout. Both major sports.
