Right..... that was the point (for Boise fan)!

They are at best the same as the rest of us but I would challenge their resume (ever so slight more than anyone in the AAC...) is padded having played in the WAC and now the MWC.

I have run the numbers for UH but I will wait for them to do their homework before we start to compare more numbers.

Navy has 24 wins over P5 / BCS auto-qual conference teams since 2002.

Yep, Navy is always a tough draw. But this only further proves the point the AAC meets and/or exceeds Boise's accomplishments.

If Boise was in the MWC before it was watered down and putting up the same stats hands down they would be the best G5 school.

As of now they are just one of the best not the best (regardless of what they want people to think).

Boise and UCF both go undefeated? They play each other in the Fiesta Bowl.

Not to mention Boise is a very pedestrian 2-3 vs the P5 over the last 2 seasons. 04-cheers

I'd like if someone ran the numbers for UConn over the same time period. With their Big East bowl seasons last decade I'd laugh pretty hard if UConn winds up being the conference leader in football wins versus current P5 schools.

Well that would be skewing the intent here just a bit.... It is entirely possible just by being in the same conference for 12 years with those schools (2002-2013).

That said.... I show

2002: 1-4
2003: 3-3
2004: 3-4
2005: 1-5
2006: 2-6
2007: 5-3

2010: 4-4
2011: 2-5
2012: 3-3

Yeah, that was in our media guide and game notes last year (I didnt see it this week) as "most wins vs BCS/P5 teams as a non-BCS/P5" A little tortuous but I assume that meant a Cincy or UConn or USF would pass us.

Cincinnati likely has the best P5 record over those years, but I'm too lazy to look it up. The Bearcats pretty much competed for the Big East title every year.

I don’t know of any other G5 team with that kind of track record. Maybe the national media is onto something when they get excited about the potential of Boise State; we’ve earned that reputation by being the winningest FBS program since 2000. So until you other G5 fans can put a feather like that in your cap, your whining about preferential treatment of Boise State seems rather petulant.

How many of those wins were home, on the unfair blue field, and how many were away? It takes at least half the game for visitors to get accustomed to that field, throwing receivers and QBs off kilter. I'm not sure how they get away with playing on a non-conforming field.

They said during the Boise-UCONN game that Boise has only lost 1 OOC game in Boise since 2002.

I am sure other schools can give a similar rebuttal so no slight at them. I can only speak intelligently about UH.

Since 2002 to use your time frame UH has 16 wins over P5 teams. Arizonza (x2), Florida State, Louisville (x2), Mississippi State (x3), Oklahoma, Oklahoma State (x2), Penn State, Pitt, Texas Tech, UCLA, and Vanderbilt

In full disclosure our overall P5 record during that time was 16-18.

Not sure what the quality of the teams you played were but we played 8 top 10 teams and went 4-4 (0-1 vs #2, 2-1 vs #3, 0-1 vs #4, 1-1, vs #5, 1-0 vs #9)

I can dig deeper and deeper into the minutia of this but the point is made, there are other schools that can claim similar stats.

And before you start touting overall records your quality of competition has been lets call it wanting to be nice.

It's a stat I have been compiling for UH (still a work in progress) but I would challenge you to dig as deep into your wins to see where they measure up.

Hell, ECU has 14 wins over P5 teams in this same time frame (+1 win over mighty Boise), and we all know how mediocre ECU overall record has been during this period (93-107).

Heck, since 2002, Memphis has 6 P5 wins (incl. 3 over Ole Miss and one over UCLA with Rosen), and we sucked in 2002, and 2009-13.

Kind of Related to this Boise State/UCF talk and for what it's worth Emory University has released its 'College Football Brands and Fans' rankings and of the G5 schools Boise State is #1 and UCF is #2. So there Emory says Boise has a better brand and Randy 'I love a good beating' Edsall says they have a better football team. Don't have other AAC rankings.

1. Boise State
2. Central Florida
3. North Texas
4. Wyoming
5. BYU

As for G5, Texas is #1 and Alabama is 12th

Emory is #21 in the latest USNWR...

As far as Edsall's comments are concerned, Boise's almost always gonna look like the better football team when you play them on their blue turf. In 2014 when Boise played in Connecticut, Boise only beat the 2-10, Diaco-led Huskies 38-21. Boise won the Fiesta Bowl that year.

Plus Boise got to see the UCF v UConn game film, they really defensed Pindell a lot better than we did. But hey I'll take the 56-17 win in Connecticut as the last 2 games there was a 24-16 win and 37-29 loss.

Any ranking of college brands that has North Texas ahead of BYU is a waste of bandwidth.

03-lmfao Good point. Wyoming too... They may not even be a Top 4 brand in the MWC.
