Not sure why this is considered "laughable". VT is still getting poll votes and may return to the Top 25 this week.

It an upset by a non-ranked team.

I love how UCF trailing FAU at half is this big, bad thing when they won big yet Penn St trailed Illinois at half and one week later they’re about to beat Ohio St.

Hawaii holds on to win in 5 OTs 44-41. SJSuU still winless but getting more competitive.

OSU erases late 26-14 deficit to beat PSU 27-26. Franklin spends 2 TO’s on a 4th&5 with season on the line only to have McSorley hand the ball off.

FAU and Pitt are better than either Georgia Tech or Illinois and they've beaten them both by significant margins. They also dominated UConn and their FCS opponent while USF struggled with a weak ECU team and looked ok against their FCS opponent. UCF is a legitimate top tier team that could challenge in the ACC, Big 12, and Pac. USF is a decent team that would probably float around the middle of the pack in each of those respective conferences.

So!!!! Boise State dominated UConn. as well.

Not the point of my post. Quo was saying that UCF hadn't done more than USF which simply isn't true. UCF has dominated all four of their opponents where as USF has squeaked by their 3 fbs opponents and looked okay against their FCS opponent.

LOL ... when you have to try to parse between the ugliness of FAU and Pitt vs Georgia Tech and Illinois, you've lost the plot.

UCF actually trailed FAU at the half, that's bad.

Bottom line is UCF has beaten 4 bad teams, so has USF, but UCF is #13 and we're not in the top 25. That's not on any kind of merit.

The problem both USF and UCF face in terms of national prospects is our schedules are really weak. There are no signature win opportunities for us. Terrible.

They were actually up 21-17, and ended up winning by 20 against one of the better teams in C-USA (Which I get doesn't mean much but I would contend that they are no worse than Illinois). I agree about the scheduling, both teams have played rather mediocre competition but while USF has been squeaking by said mediocre teams, UCF is winning all of its games convincingly. Margin of victory matters. Game control matters. The eye test matters.

FAU lost to MTSU and are 2-3 on the year. A 20 point win over them is not that impressive. Not saying wins over Ill or GT are either, but IMO, GT would beat FAU handily at this point.

I'm not saying that Clemson is bad but they are far from the #3 team in the country. As of right now, Stanford, OU, WVU, LSU, Auburn, and OSU all look like better teams. The ACC is extremely weak this year, if you threw UCF into it, they would be competing for the conference championship.

Clemson would boat race UCF and any other AACk program. Juat like last year UCF has proven exactly nothing. Their best win thus far is a team who lost to a team that they will beat by 4+ scores.

The ACC might be weak, Clemson isn't...they would have boat raced UCF last year and they would boat race UCF at this point.

Clemson's a little suspect. Of course yall should stomp every AAC program, least on paper, but then again yall should have stomped Syracuse today. Yalls defense is legit, the QB situation not so much. Obviously yall have a lot of talent. I think yall are a legit top 25 team but I'm not sold on yall being in the top 10. Maybe yall would beat UCF in a game maybe not. If yall played this year though, UCF would be the best team on your schedule and I think you'd be surprised by how good they actually are.

Bla bla bla

Nothing you have typed in the two responses backs up what you have said.

UCF might be good, but you aren't going to make that point by disparaging teams that have proven more thus far.

So you actually think yall deserve to be ranked #3 in the nation?

It's still a better case than UCF has for 13th. They have beat absolutely nobody.

Who exactly has Clemson beat to deserve number 3? Get them the hell out of the playoffs. ACC is pathetic this year. You need the media to hype BC, Syracuse, and Duke...... just sayin

Probably because normal people don’t have self-worth tied into “punching down”.

Clemson defeated Texas A&M at Texas A&M. It is very hard to do so against a SEC West team.

This should be titled “Laughable Thread - Week 5”.

Between the posturing of the Florida acronyms, Clemson claiming their self worth, questionable laughable scores, and random Boise State interjections... I just want to thank everyone for a good read!

The good thing is that UCF and USF will settle it on the field. This has to be one of the most under the radar, fan-intense rivalries in college sports.

I would agree with that - IF the SEC team is named Auburn, Alabama, LSU or Texas A&M.

I'm not sure I would agree with Ole Miss, Mississippi State or especially Arkansas.

And Ohio St. couldn't have run out the clock if he had saved one of them.
Ohio St. had the line stacked. He had to pass on a 4th and 5.

Well, VT shouldn’t have been receiving votes after getting demolished by ODU

It should be, and is with fans I know in person, but on these forums, we actually have USF fans who defend UCF claiming their bogus national title last year and also that they should be higher ranked this year. It's amazing.

No self-respecting Bull should ever promote UCF for anything, especially not their ridonculous title claims. 03-puke

VT laid a mighty egg against ODU, but Notre Dame overlooks them next week at their peril. 07-coffee3

Did anyone see that ESPN's College Football Final started with an Arkansas Tech highlight? Well, a highlight that involved Arkansas Tech, at least — the Wonderboys were down 17-7 and knocking on the door late in the fourth, only the Ouachita Baptist defender delivers a coast-to-coast game-clinching interception return as the PBP guy ... well, you kinda hafta listen to it to appreciate it.
