It might not be a bad idea to have a wallet full of $1 bills...no more than $20.

On Beale St. you'll be just fine because law enforcement will block off the street and swat off all ants away that attempt to enter.

Parking away from the FEF after normal work hours you might get hit up by a homeless street person looking for his next drink or his next meal. It's rare, but it might happen. If it happens, give him a dollar or two and keep walking towards the FEF. I've never had an issue and they've all been grateful for whatever I gave them at the time...just whatever few bucks I had in my wallet at the time.

The homeless downtown are prepared to exploit outsiders with big events like this coming into town at gas stations, etc. So gas up outside of downtown if you're driving into Memphis.

What?? Just tell them no and keep walking.. I think this is entirely too much thought put into this lol. Although it’s not rare for a homeless person to hit you up downtown. It’s rare to walk a block without one asking.

For outsiders, they might just follow them down the street rambling antics. It's just a fly-swatter approach. "Here's a dollar, go away."

Yeah? But if you make their endeavor not profitable, They go away. I travel a lot and I don’t help out homeless unless I’m in a small town. In houston or Dallas you just don’t make eye contact and say sorry don’t have cash and they stumble around somewhere else.

You guys are making Memphis sound like San Francisco.. you guys have tent cities and street poopers?

If you think India is bad, wait until you visit Memphis. We're squatting on downtown sidewalks and right on doorsteps in front of commercial entry doorways.

Wear your water-proof mud boots, you'll want to hose them off after watching a game and exploring Beale St.

We don't enforce public defecation laws in Memphis. Just take a squat and relieve yourself wherever you stand.
