We would make the most sense to leave. We’re like the UTEP of the east as far as geography goes. I really like most of the teams in this league, but it makes no sense for us...or us for it.

You’re the one that joined this conference with the Texas schools on it not the other way around. Old Dominion is the East Carolina of 3.0, constantly complaining about the Texas schools.
If this were to happen, i don’t think Texas State would get the call due to UTSA blocking them. It might be Arkansas State or Louisiana. Perhaps Georgia State if markets are still “relevant”.
If we have to add someone, if UTEP goes to the MWC, then it should be ULL or Arkansas State. I hate all things ULL but they would be a nice fit in this conference geographically. Very good baseball team, basketball has been pretty decent lately under Marlin and the football team wasn't terrible under Hud, but was overrated. Honestly ULL is a better program than Arkansas St. when looking at football, basketball and baseball.
+1. They fit the geography and there fans support them. They'd be the best choice in my opinion. You guys would have a great rival. Y'all already dislike one another.

Glad I went out there last October to see us play them in football. It was the one stadium I wanted to see in CUSA. I enjoyed my trip there. Dummydick Junior almost lost us the game but UTEP wanted the loss worse by missing 3 very makeable field goals.
But the campus and the overall setting and stadium was cool as hell. It was actually cooler than I had imagined it and I had imagined it pretty damn cool.

I admit I didn’t read the entire thread, but why would we add anyone?
Literally no one adds value anymore. Let them go and it’s one less school that we all have to carry in football. And one less mouth to feed for B-ball credits, which they haven’t been doing well at for a few seasons.

Even divisions. If they take an even number I'd agree but we'd have to move either MT or WKU west. They might not be too keen on that.

RE: Rumor to make most CUSA fans hopeful
I've been spending most of my time on the Spin Room so I guess that makes me the prodigal son. I couldn't help coming here and giving my two cents worth on this subject.
Personally, I would love to be back with our western brothers but I'm also a practical person. I've read this book before and the ending is always the same. We don't get an invite and UTEP fans get down again. I like "some" of our CUSA brethren and I won't start a trolling war with the ones I don't like but if you want to know who those schools are you can go back a few years and find out. The thing that gets me is that even when we sport a good team in BkB and FB I can't get into that rivalry mood with them. The closest is Ootsa (and only because they copy everything we do), and La Tech, oh can't forget Rice but that's about it.
I just hope that we can make some of the Cusa schools that wish we'd go away happy by really going away. Most of the UTEP fan base want to head back to the MWC so tonight when you say your prayers pray that we do get the invite...and hope that we don't screw things up again by refusing.
Oh, I forgot to add that I don't think we're going anyplace if that's any consolation. We'll be passed up again. Sigh...

Just heard Tech is including in the MWC talks, Tech has strong relationships with old WAC schools.
Whatever, your not even allowed to leave the state are you?
Or 500 feet from any school.... It's complicated...
BTW You think you could mail me some Cigs? Make sure you included "Big" in the name so the mail room will know not to mess with it.

If one team were to leave CUSA why not invite a football only school? Less basketball credits to spread out. UMass would sign up for that deal and maybe UConn because they would rather play in the Big East.

I have no desire to see UTEP leave C-USA. I know some UTEP alums in Texas that feel the same way.

The only potentially exciting part of this deal is the ripple effect it could have on the rest of us.

For what ever the reason I think UTEP's record will show that CUSA has not been good for them. Sometimes it's the coach, some times its the school (Texas, Pittsburgh, Indiana, & Charlotte), sometimes its the conference & sometimes its a mixture of the three.
In this case I think the conference has been a major draw back to UTEP's turn around. Not that the conference is bad, maybe it just doesn't fit UTEP's DNA.

UTEP Dallas?? Woah... a directional directional school. Interesting.
And for the record, I love UTEP in the conference!

I doubt UTEP goes to the MWC. Though, I do hope the best for NMSU, I just don't see the MWC going to 14 much less the rumored 16.
CUSA would be crazy to replace UTEP if they left. Why continue to split up the pie so thinly on the football CFP money? They could always bring in a UTEP level basekball only school that could help the conference in that regard.

For starters, UTEP is ~50% further from Norfolk than Houston, San Antonio or Denton is, not only that, but the majority of the conference lies in between ODU and UNT/UTSA/Rice, while that additional ~600 miles west from there to UTEP, contains no other members, so I'd say it's disingenuous to suggest there is not a benefit, strictly geographically speaking, to UTEP leaving, even if the other Texas schools remain.
I'm also not sure what makes you think Texas State would be the replacement, who would vote for them?

The best thing that could happen for all involved is for the MWC to take all four Texas schools (better for them and us) and for CUSA to stay put at ten.
