I'm not sure why - Trump's first 8-10 months were spent executive ordering his way out of things that Obama had done in office.
Obama accomplished plenty, whether you personally like the accomplishments or not.

The main thing, IMO, that's different with NK this time around is China. There's a reason Kim took that magic train ride to Beijing and then afterwards all the "peace" stuff with SK and then the proposed US/NK summit. Add that to the fact that NK apparently blew up its own testing site, then may be there's a chance this time around. As far as NK threatening to pull out, that's negotiating 101 and no different than when buying a car. Of course the stakes are higher, but logically the same thought process, etc.

Trump could de-nuclearize the Korean peninsula, get a settlement about the claims in the South China Sea, convince Assad to leave Syria and negotiate a coalition government and reach peace between the Israelis and Palestinians and they still wouldn't give him a Nobel.

Fail? Unless they got the nuke only in the last 18 months, the FAILURE happened under Obama. If you're saying Trump hasn't yet fixed the problem that Obama left, that's fair.... but he's certainly moved in the correct direction while Trump was President. (perhaps not far at all, but 'right')
