I wouldn’t put money’s on this game. If anyone can lose to a horrible team it’s applewhite, you being a tulsa fan should know that better than anyone.

Its only year 2, there wont be year 3 if he doesn’t perform its already been basically guaranteed in a few stories I’ve read that he is gone.

The quote from the president was if he doesn’t win 9 he is gone. I also saw that it’s been speculated they dont have faith he will succeed so they hired Briles in order to make him the coach once they fire applewhite.

I agree on the 9 win mark, but the rest is a fabrication. It has been well documented that Briles was Applewhite's initial target for OC, but he already had accepted the FAU gig. Briles wasn't forced on Applewhite as an heir apparent. Kendal and Major were teammates and knew each other from coaching in the LilXII together.

Like i said on the second part its just speculation at this point. But it would make sense to hire someone who is a up an coming coach for oc. Especially when your current HC is mediocre. This allows you to hire from within correctly. Where as applewhite was a Herman hire, briles is more of a insurance hire by the athletic department.
Briles allows us to groom a future head coach in our ways so there will be hopefully no step back. Where as applewhite was never destined to be a head coach and was purely hired to save money and on the belief we would not have a drop off from Herman.

You missed my point. Briles was an Applewhite hire, not an AD hire. There is a big difference.

I thought the AD basically forced us to hire him this season. Either way we will live or die by Briles ability to coach offense. Still dont understand why we didn’t hire a new D coordinator either.

Because most people don’t replace the coordinator with the number one run defense and the number two scoring defense in conference unless you know you can do better than that.

Wasn’t our second half defense one of the worst in the country through?
