First Team is all guards, while Second Team is all bigs and basically Cincinnati. Interesting.
Gonna be some pissed off Shockers/Bearcats.

LOL @ Jalen Adams and Rob Gray being above Gary Clark on the 1st team.
Edit: Now that I think about it more, the only player that should be above Clark is Shamet. No one else in the conference impacts the game to Clark's extent.

Is there a Center in the league better than Tacko? Tacko Tuesday is coming.

Adams led the conference in assists. Gray led the conference in scoring. Not a big surprise to see both on the First Team.

It's not a surprise given the preference for counting stats that many have, but Adams was a net negative in conference play last year while Clark had a better offensive and defensive rating than Gray.
By advanced stats Semi Ojeleye was pretty clearly the best player in the conference last year, but Clark was 2nd. Hopefully he has a big time senior year and gets the spot on the 1st team or even POY.

Interesting that they chose Shake over Shamet for Preseason POY. Do you think it was their unfamiliarity with Shamet, his current injury, or something else?

I was pretty surprised @ Shake as well. I'd imagine some of it was returning AAC teams protecting their own. Also why UC probably edged WSU in the poll although I am curious who took UC 3rd.

Would this 1st team be constructed to win a JCC basketball league or an actual NCAA game. This would be like having a football first team made up entirely of QBs and RBs on both the offense and defense.

How's that baseball team look, UCF... could be a huge athletics year for the Knights.

Baseball is the strangest NCAA sport. You recruit/sign a team, then some go straight to the minors. You can lose half your team to the farm system every offseason. I wait for half the season to be over before I even attempt to learn names.

Baseball looks really good. Coach Lovelady is recruiting studs.

Any shade thrown the Shocker's way is more than welcome. We do best when we are slighted. That being said, with injuries to two of our key players, it's normal to think we would lose a little preseason love. Make no mistake though... we're beating this conference silly when we're whole.

RE: 2017-2018 AAC Basketball Media Days (with Preseason Coaches Poll / Awards)
gary clark is gonna have a breakout season. he's going to go from a consistent offensive force into being more of a stronger, creative maker of hoops. all while maintaining his elite defensive chops. tacko fall wouldn't be playing basketball if he was gary's height. tacko certainly has improved his agility and is worthy of his accolades, he certainly has our respect (they play like a bunch of p*ssies when he's in there). gary is simply dwarfed by that freak you have, in terms of the attention he gets. omg he's so tall. he doesn't have a choice but to affect games. as long as he has the fundamentals down, he can stumble into the atmosphere where the elite congregate. i'm certain i have the wrong impression, it seems to me that an athlete that tall wouldn't have the desire to improve. no, i'm just going to be tall. that's it. i just feel like it would be a hassle. it's probably just enough trying to walk. i have the sudden urge to want to wear a manute bol game worn jersey

It's not really shade. It's called being a part of a multi-bid, talented conference. WSU simply isn't gonna run away with all the preseason accolades that they had become accustom to in the Valley.

I don't feel WSU got slighted at all. Respect is earned. Plus, no one is running away with the league. This is gonna be a tight battle that probably won't determine a champ until the final week. Cincy is damn good and deserves a lot of love. Being picked 2nd in this conference our first year in is still showing a lot of respect and love though.
Just looking forward to some basketball!!!!

I don't think you're familiar with how the Valley worked. It had turned in to a green-ribbon league. As an example, WSU went 68-4 the last 4 years in the league, and Marshall won COY 1 time, when they literally went undefeated.
But I do agree with the sentiment that in this league there are deserving other candidates. I don't think there is any lack of respect shown in these announcements.

RE: 2017-2018 AAC Basketball Media Days (with Preseason Coaches Poll / Awards)
Of course we were slighted. Nearly every preseason publication has Wichita State as a top 10 team and Cincy as merely top 25. If the ChicKUns were in this league (we are ranked ahead of them in some preseason polls), people would be like WTF? Well... there is no diference between WSU and KU this year except for branding - end of story.
Like I said, thanks for the motivation. Marshall will make this conference pay. I predict he will be liked about as much in the AAC as he was in the MVC, Big South, etc... If it's not salary envy, it will be W/L envy or national popularity envy. If it's neither of those it will be because Gregg Marshall sometimes just comes off like a dick.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
